Permainan bola basket diciptakan oleh James A. Naismith pada tahun 1891 di Amerika Serikat dengan menggunakan keranjang buah persik sebagai sasaran. Permainan ini melibatkan dua tim yang berusaha memasukkan bola berdiameter lebih dari 50 cm ke dalam keranjang lawan menggunakan berbagai teknik seperti dribbling, passing, shooting, dan rebound.
4. James A. Naismith
Permainan bola basket diciptakan oleh James A. Naismith tahun 1891 di Massachusett, Amerika
Serikat. Awal mulanya permainan ini sasarannya menggunakan keranjang buah persik sehingga
permainan ini diberi nama basket ball. Ia mengembangkan 13 aturan permainan basket yang
resmi pertama.
8. Dribbling
Teknik dasar dribbling yaitu untuk membawa bola
menghindari lawan dan menyerang lawan yang
dilakukan dengan memantul-mantulkan bola dengan
satu telapak tangan terbuka. Aturannya jangan pernah
menggunakan dua tangan untuk menggiring bola
basket dan jangan menggunakan tangan yang
mengepal.

Gerakan melempar bola kepada teman yang masih dalam satu
tim dilakukan dengan menggunakan dua tangan atau satu
tangan saja untuk menjaga bola dari rebutan lawan.
12. Pivot berarti tumpuan, teknik pivot biasanya digunakan untuk melakukan gerak
tipu yaitu dengan cara mengerakkan badan dengan tumpuan salah satu kaki
dengan kedua tangan yang menjaga bola dari lawan. Aturan melakukan pivot
yaitu tidak boleh menggeser kaki yang menjadi tumpuan saat memutar badan.

Menembak dengan teknik set shoot

15. Waktu Bermain
Waktu permainan 4 x 10 menit jika berpedoman dengan aturan
Federasi Bola Basket Internasional. Versi National Basketball
Association waktu bermain adalah 4 x 12 menit. Di antara babak 1, 2,
3, dan babak 4 terdapat waktu istirahat selama 10 menit. Bila terjadi
skor yang sama pada akhir pertandingan harus diadakan
perpanjangan waktu sampai terjadi selisih skor. Di antara dua babak
tambahan terdapat waktu istirahat selama 2 menit. Waktu untuk
lemparan ke dalam yaitu 5 detik.
16. Pada umumnya dalam setiap pertandingan satu tim
memiliki 10 orang pemain. Jumlah pemain basket ini
dibagi menjadi dua, 5 orang sebagai cadangan dan 5
orang sebagai pemain inti. Tapi, dalam sebuah
pertandingan besar, terkadang pemain cadangan
ditambahkan menjadi 7 orang. Sehingga jumlah
pemain basket dalam satu tim ada 12 orang.

PEMAIN
5 orang pemain basket akan dipimpin oleh 1 orang kapten.
Ada juga seorang pelatih dan asisten pelatih yang akan
mengatur tim tersebut.Selain itu, peraturan bola basket
membolehkan 5 orang duduk di bangku cadangan. Ke-5
orang ini memiliki peranan khusus, seperti manager, psikolog,
dokter, penerjemah dan pencatat statistik
17. Aturan Aturan
Pemain tidak boleh menyeruduk, mendorong, menahan,
memukul, menubruk, atau menjegal pemain lawan.
Bola dapat dilemparkan ke segala arah dengan
menggunakan salah satu atau kedua tangan.
Bola dapat dipukul ke segala arah dengan
menggunakan salah satu atau kedua tangan, tetapi tidak
boleh dipukul menggunakan kepalan tangan.
Pemain tidak diperbolehkan untuk berlari sambil
memegang bola.
Bola basket hanya diperbolehkan dipegang di antara
atau di telapak tangan. Lengan, kaki dan anggota badan
lainnya tidak diperbolehkan untuk memegang bola

18. Tim yang berhasil memasukkan bola ke ring terbanyak
akan menjadi pemenangnya.
Gol atau poin dihitung jika bola masuk ke ring keranjang
karena dilempar atau dipukul oleh pemain dari dalam
lapangan.
Jika bola keluar dari lapangan, bola akan diberikan
kepada pemain pertama yang menyentuhnya.
Wasit berhak memperhatikan permainan para pemain dan
mencatat banyaknya pelanggaran dan memberi tahu wasit
pembantu jika terjadi pelanggaran berturut-turut.
Wasit pembantu akan ikut melakukan pengawalan bola
dan mengambil keputusan.

Jika salah satu pihak tim melakukan pelanggaran
berturut-turut sebanyak 3 kali, maka akan dihitung
sebagai gol atau tim laan akan mendapatkan poin angka.
