3D Creations is a 3D printing company located in Winthrop Harbor, IL that specializes in printing with plastics and metals. They currently have 2 extrusion printers that can print objects up to 298 x 275 x 250 mm out of materials like ABS and PLA. The company plans to expand into metal 3D printing with a printer under construction that can print objects up to 40 x 40 x 30 cm out of metals with a resolution of around 15 microns. 3D Creations also offers CAD design and post-processing services and has printed samples like motorcycle parts and gears.
2. About us
• We are a 3D printing company that specializes in plastics
• We will soon also expand to a number of metals
• Started in December of 2013
• Located at 811A Sheridan Rd, Winthrop Harbor, IL
• Office hours: 10 am – 6 pm, Mon – Fri
• Office number: (224) 789 - 7725
3. What is 3D printing?
• Our plastic printers use an extrusion method
• Extrusion printing forces a plastic filament through a hot end nozzle
which is moved using a method similar to CNC
• The plastic is built up in layers to create the final product
• The printed piece has no shape limit, and can have a hollow cavity inside
• 3D-LMP printing uses a number of metal powder deposition methods
that are sintered layer by layer to form the final product
• 3D-LMP has very little shape limitations, hollow cavities will require
minimal post-processing to remove powder from sealed cavities
4. Capabilities
• We currently have 2 Aleph Objects TAZ 4 extrusion printers in house
• These printers possess a print area of 298 mm x 275 mm x 250 mm
• They possess a quick printing speed allowing for a fast, and accurate
turnaround period
• Vertical resolution can be from 0.075mm to 0.35 mm
• Extrusion widths range from 0.075mm to 0.5 mm
• They support multiple printing plastics including but not limited to:
ABS, PLA, HIPS, and PVA
5. Capabilities
• Our two printers allow for larger quantities to be turned out
more quickly while maintaining accuracy
• Using plastic allows larger prints exceeding our field to be done
in pieces and later welded together chemically
• We are currently have a 3D-LMP printer under construction
• The maximum print field has been set to 40 cm x 40 cm x 30 cm
• Vertical resolution expected at ~15 microns, with a spot size of
~80 microns
• Finished prints require minimal post processing, and can be
shipped same day
6. Additional Services
• We have an in-house CAD Engineer that can work with you to
create accurate 3D models of your items/ideas
• We can also give you an accurate blueprint or mechanical drawing
of your item as well
7. Applications of 3D printing
• Rapid prototyping
• Quick method to check a design’s fit and finish
• Quick method to make a positive mold for sand casting, investment
casting and other similar casting methods
• Quick and accurate method to create a final metal product
8. Advantages of 3D-LMP
• 3D-LMP printing is the quickest and easiest method to create a
usable, testable prototype, or actual final product
• Our 3D-LMP printer will not require much post process work apart
from optional heat treating, plating, paint, etc…
• Finalized prints can be further refined and polished to an even
higher resolution
• Heat treated 3D-LMP prints have been used in many final
applications, including use in commercial jetliner’s engines
