OBJECTIVES
Kitchen Utensils
the most basic thing that
doesn't need too much man
power and can be used by
just using 1 hand.
a kitchen utensil is a small
hand held tool used for food
preparation. Is a tool you
can hold in your hand and
use around the house.
LIST OF BASIC KITCHEN
UTENSILS
spoon, an implement consisting of a small shallow bowl-
shaped receptacle supported by a handle, used for eating,
serving, and cooking foods.
Spoon
Fork
A utensil with spikes used to put solid food into the
mouth, or to hold food down while cutting.
A measuring cup is a kitchen utensil used primarily to
measure the volume of liquid or bulk solid cooking
ingredients such as flour and sugar. The standard 4
measuring cup sizes are: 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup and 1/4
cup. With those four cup sizes you can measure dry
ingredients for any recipe.
A measuring spoon is a spoon used to measure an amount
of an ingredient, either liquid or dry, when cooking.
Measuring spoons may be made of plastic, metal, and
other materials. They are available in many sizes,
including the teaspoon and tablespoon.
Measuring Cups
Measuring Spoon
Colander
is a kitchen utensil used to strain foods such as pasta or to
rinse vegetables. The perforated nature of the colander
allows liquid to drain through while retaining the solids
inside. It is sometimes also called a pasta strainer or
kitchen sieve.
Tongs are a type of tool used to grip and lift objects
instead of holding them directly with hands. There are
many forms of tongs adapted to their specific use.
A ladle is a type of cooking implement used for soup, stew,
or other foods. Although designs vary, a typical ladle has a
long handle terminating in a deep bowl, frequently with
the bowl oriented at an angle to the handle to facilitate
lifting liquid out of a pot or other vessel and conveying it
to a bowl.
Tongs
Ladle
Whisk
A whisk is a cooking utensil which can be used to blend
ingredients smooth or to incorporate air into a mixture, in
a process known as whisking or whipping. Most whisks
consist of a long, narrow handle with a series of wire loops
joined at the end.
A peeler is a kitchen tool, a distinct type of kitchen knife,
consisting of a metal blade with a slot with a sharp edge
attached to a handle, used to remove the outer layer of
some vegetables such as potatoes, broccoli stalks, and
carrots, and fruits such as apples and pears.
Wooden spoons give you a firm strong handle to hold,
making stirring easier and more effective–and without
any fear of the handle breaking. It also provides you with a
solid tool for scraping things off the sides and bottom of
your pan. When introduced to high temperatures, metal
spoons can get really hot.

Turner/Slotted Turner
A perforated or slotted turner is similar to a solid turner in
construction and uses, but with holes or slots for liquid or
fat to drip through. A flexible turner, made from heat-
proof silicone, may be long- or short-handled, and can be
useful for baked goods and eggs.
Can be used for all types of pasta; has a straining center to retrieve
ribbons, tortellini, ravioli while pointed separations can be used for long
pasta strands; elegant kitchen to table use.
A funnel is a tube or pipe that is wide at the top and
narrow at the bottom, used for guiding liquid or powder
into a small opening. Funnels are usually made of
stainless steel, aluminium, glass, or plastic.

Grater
A grater, also known as a shredder, is a kitchen utensil
used to grate foods into fine pieces.
A can opener (in North American English and Australian
English) or tin opener (used in British English) is a
mechanical device used to open tin cans (metal cans).
Kitchen shears, also known as kitchen scissors, are
intended for cutting and trimming foods such as meats,
snipping herbs, cutting open food packaging, and
breaking down poultry

Chopping Board
A cutting board (or chopping board) is a durable board on
which to place material for cutting. The kitchen cutting
board is commonly used in preparing food.
Paring Knives are small, and are ideal for handling smaller
tasks in the kitchen —like cutting small vegetables, peeling
fruits, or slicing awkwardly-shaped ingredients.
Serrated knives are also known as bread knives. They're
distinguished by the saw-like appearance of the blade's
edge. This design makes the serrated knife highly efficient
at certain kinds of cutting. It easily slices through food
with thick or resistant outer surfaces.

Chef's Knife
A chef's knife is among the most versatile knives in the
kitchen and can be used for anything from chopping to
cutting. Common uses for a chef's knife include cutting
meat, dicing vegetables, slicing herbs, and chopping nuts.
The flat side of the knife can even be used to crush garlic.
Kitchen Equipment
Kitchen equipment refers to the
various tools, appliances, and utensils
used in a kitchen for cooking, food
preparation, and storage.
Kitchen equipment are the things
used in the kitchen which needs
electricity. These are bigger
compared to kitchen utensils.
LIST OF KITCHEN
EQUIPMENT
Refrigerator/Freezer
is to keep food cold. Cold temperatures help food stay
fresh longer. The basic idea behind refrigeration is to slow
down the activity of bacte- ria (which all food contains) so
that it takes longer for the bacteria to spoil the food.
Stove
a portable or fixed apparatus that burns fuel or uses
electricity to provide heat (as for cooking or heating) : a
device that generates heat for special purposes (as for
heating tools or heating air for a hot blast)
Turbo Broiler
A turbo broiler is a portable multifunctional convection
oven. You can turbo-roast meat, broil, bake, steam, and
reheat food. Cooking food in a turbo broiler is much
healthier as well. Recipes that require deep-frying can be
prepared oil-free.
Blender
A blender (sometimes called a mixer or liquidiser in British
English) is a kitchen and laboratory appliance used to mix,
crush, purée or emulsify food and other substances. A
stationary blender consists of a blender container with a
rotating metal blade at the bottom, powered by an
electric motor that is in the base.
a container with holes in the bottom that is put over
boiling water in order to cook food in steam, or a machine
that cooks food with steam: a rice steamer. a vegetable
steamer.
Steamer
Mixer
Mixers help automate the repetitive tasks of stirring,
whisking or beating. When the beaters are replaced by a
dough hook, a mixer may also be used to knead. A mixer
may be a handheld mechanism known as an eggbeater, a
handheld motorized beater, or a drill mixer.
Oven
A toaster oven is a small electric countertop appliance
that looks like a mini oven but functions as an oven-
toaster hybrid. Toaster ovens are mainly used for
reheating leftovers, cooking frozen foods, toasting breads
and baking in small batches
A fryer is a type of deep pan which you can use to fry food
in hot oil. It is designed to cook foods such as chicken,
fish, breaded vegetables, specialized pastries, and of
course, the classic French-fried potato.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KITCHEN
UTENSILS AND EQUIPMENT
A tiny hand-held instrument used for
food preparation is known as a kitchen
utensil. Cutting food items to size,
cooking meals over an open fire or on a
stove, baking, grinding, combining,
blending, and measuring are all common
culinary operations; distinct equipment
is developed for each operation.
Kitchen Utensils
Kitchen equipment refers to anything
that requires power to operate in the
kitchen. The bigger, either manual or
mechanical, items in your kitchen are
referred to as kitchen equipment. Food
processors, cooks, bakers, and freezers
are examples of this equipment.
