Rom 14-15:7 Disunity has always been a major problem with God’s people. Even the Old Testament records the civil wars and family fights among the people of Israel, and almost every local church mentioned in the New Testament had divisions to contend with.

There are lots of theories out there about 'pre-tribulation or post-tribulation', but this should not be a basis for dividing true believers; as ultimately, the most important thing is that we are in a relationship with God, that we are walking closely with God and that we are ready for whatever comes in the end times.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

1. THE BARNABAS
Barnabas was a son of prophecy or consolation and his name /surname was called Joses. He was
a friend and companion of Paul who was called Saul (Saul).Barnabas was called Joseph and he
was a Levite, his home was in Cyprus. (acts 4:36),he was respected highly by the Christian
leaders and he played a big role in the converting the newly Saul having received by the
apostles in Jerusalem .He was commissioned together with Saul by the church at Antioch to lead
/conduct missionary tour/journey concerning the obligations of circumcision and ceremonial law.
Paul and Barnabas were sent to the church of Jerusalem with the contribution to the
poor Christians in the Judea at around 44A.Dand returned to the Antioch with John
mark.Acts11:27-30 .They were three who were sent on a missionary journey to Cyprus,
Pampylia, Pisidia, and Lycaonia where Paul occupied the first place and given a new name
PAUL instead of Saul. Acts 14:14 Barnabas again occupy the first place in the passage with re-
collection of the last two Barnabas stood closer relation to the Jerusalem church than Paul. He
was appeared as a preaching missionary. Gal 2:9-10 both Paul and Barnabas were included that
they involved in the argument and John, James and Peter on the other hand not forgetting the
poor in Jerusalem.
Hence the lustrums regarded Paul as the Hermes and Barnabas as Zeus (14:12) they
stayed in Antioch later they involved in the controversy or arguments with Judaism who were
sent to the apostolic church in Jerusalem.
After their return Barnabas and Paul planned for the second missionary journey, but
later separated due to the argument of taking John Mark with them who was Barnabas, nephew.
Who went away deserted during the first tour but the book comments that their relationship
continued through Paul’s spoke warmly of Barnabas’s in the letter ( they were if doesn’t indicate
the death of Barnabas .
He was given a name known as Jupiter for his impressive personality and was given by the
Lycaonians . The name of the emperor gods in Grecian mythology (acts 14:12) as son of comfort

physical nobility that was added to his influence. Barnabas was the man full of the holy spirit and
faith, also he was intelligent and used to have visions and was filled with the holy spirit whereby
the early says that Barnabas was an earthly reflection of the Paraclete (counselor) John14:16,
26).From Galatians 2:13Paul said that as the dissembling Jews Barnabas was also taken by the
hypocrisy but there was only holy man on earth whom he was preaching about.
Tertullian and other western regard Barnabas as the author of the epistle of the Barnabas
that was published to the patritics writings. According to the Photius, Barnabas wrote the book of
Acts and gospel ascribed to him.
Galatians 2:13 Barnabas continued to labor as missionary when the legends begun he was
brought to Rome and Alexandria. The Clementine Recognitions made him to preach in Rome
during the Christ’s lifetime and Clement of Alexandria made him to be the seventy disciples.
The martyrdom of Barnabas was in Cyprus where his remains are said to have been
discovered under emperor zeno (474-491). The Cyprian church claimed Barnabas as its
foundation in order to rid itself of the supremacy of Antiochianship as he did Milan church
afterwards to become independent of Rome. During the Middle Ages (cf, C.J Hefele Das sends
chreibemdes Apostles Barnabas 1840; O; Braunsberge, Der Apostle Barnabas Mainz 1876) a
question rose if Barnabas deaths are discrepant and untrustworthy.
( Smith ,William entry of Barnabas bible dictionary 1901).
In twenty one chapters is the interest of the traditions to believe in Barnabas as the
author of the epistle contained in the codex sinaiticus at the end of New Testament and Greek
manuscript was discovered by Bryennous at constantinophel and Hilgenfeld.Towards the end of
2nd
century the epistle was great in Alexandria as the citation of clement of Alexandria .The
opinion /suggestion today is that Barnabas was not the author ,it was only written in Alexandria
in( 130-131) and addressed to the Christian Gentiles the author formerly labored In congregation
imparted to his readers the perfect knowledge of spiritual mysteries to understand that Christians
are the true covenant people and the Jews had never been in the covenant with God .
3. Nandutu Juliet Page 3
There was no other writing that could separate the Gentiles Christians from the patriotic
Jews to clearly brought out to the Christians .circumcision and ceremonial laws of Old
Testament and sacrificial are devils work .it’s an anti- Judaist but no means to an anti-nomist.
Pauline and the apostles doctrine of atonenement is more faithfully reproduced in this epistle
than any other post apostolic writing.
Lessons learn from the Barnabas life history:
We learn to be faith full as he was and all people remembered him for the things he did.
We learn to pray to God to gives the Holy Spirit and to be filled like Barnabas was also to
reconcile after being annoyed with a friend.
We learn to be wise or to have wisdom like how he was in order to solve different issues and
problems and deal with many people like he dealed with the Jews who thought that god is theirs
alone.
