viewing habits i.e. what they watch, when they watch it and publishes it online.
These are the top 4 crime dramas of the week beginning 15 October:
New Tricks (BBC1) - 8.26 million views
New Tricks is a crime drama about a group of older cops who solve old cases. It is
set in present-day London and surrounding areas. It follows a group of cops who
solve cases that have been abandoned by the police for some time. It is aimed at an
older audience of both genders. This has been achieved by using actors and cases
from a time that the target audience would remember.
Hunted (BBC1) - 4.50 million views
Hunted is a crime drama centred around a private inteligence agent who
survives an attempt on her life, which was possibly orchestrated by her
own colleagues. She recovers and then goes undercover to find out who
did it. It is mainly set in London, but doesn't follow a specific type of
crime or police unit, but one woman. The target audience is a young
audience (20s-30s) regarding the age of the stars and the fast-paced
actions sequences used.
Homeland (Ch4) - 2.74 million views
Homeland is a drama/thriller series with the central story arc of a captured U.S.
Marine who returns to America as an Al-Qaeda agent. It is set mainly in
America, with scenes in Beirut, Lebanon. It follows counterterrorism and
espionage policing. Their target audience are people who enjoy spy dramas e.g.
Spooks, Jason Bourne and are probably in the mid-30s to late 40s age range, in
accordance with the age of the stars.
CSI: Miami (Ch5) - 1.14 million views
CSI: Miami is an American procedural police drama that follows a team of cops in Miami
and its environs, solving crimes. It follows a team of police that range from forensic experts
to normal beat cops. It has a fast pace, with action sequences and relatively quick running
time of 40 minutes.
It is because of this that I think that it is aimed at people of all ages, but mainly busy people
who do not have time to watch well-developed, hour-long serials.
