Iberia and Aena implemented collaborative decision making (CDM) at Madrid-Barajas Airport's Terminal 4 to optimize baggage handling system (BHS) operations. Key aspects of the CDM implementation included establishing information exchanges between the airline and airport, sharing operational roles and responsibilities, exchanging operational knowledge, and designing new BHS functions. This resulted in a centralized management model with an Airport Management Center and Iberia Airport Services Hub Control Center coordinating BHS operations.
