The Badgett-Kritsonis Supervision Leadership Model (BK-SLM) focuses on six principles of effective supervision: 1) expectations must be reasonable, 2) expectations must be clearly communicated, and 3) expectations must be consistently enforced. These form the foundation. The advanced levels include monitoring results, evaluating results for effectiveness, and systematically reinforcing or revising expectations. The BK-SLM model emphasizes establishing reasonable expectations, communicating them clearly, consistently enforcing them, monitoring results, evaluating effectiveness, and reinforcing or revising expectations. The authors believe this model can be effectively applied to supervision in education, business, and industry.

Abstract
The Badgett-Kritsonis Supervision Leadership Model (BK-SLM; 2014) focuses on six
fundamental principles of effective supervision. The model emphasizes reasonable expectations
that are clearly communicated and consistently enforced. Results are monitored and evaluated
for effectiveness. Finally, expectations are systematically reinforced or revised. The model is
applicable to many facets of education, business, and industry.
Effective organizational leadership is by design. We believe organizations governed with
clear roles, responsibilities, and goals are destined to succeed because of a coherent message,
purpose, and process. Leaders can more effectively facilitate success for an organization by
articulating a supervision leadership model for how organizational members interact with one
another pertaining to their specific responsibilities. This includes supervising them so they
achieve expectations that are vital to the organization’s mission and vision. Schools can be
viewed as micro organizations that are run by macro organizations called districts. The Badgett-
Kritsonis Supervision Leadership Model (BK-SLM; 2014) can be effectively used at all levels
and areas of education.
We have identified several key principles that support the effective coordination and
implementation of human, fiscal, and material resources. These principles outline the Badgett-
Kritsonis Supervision Leadership Model (BK-SLM; 2014).
