1. RYOKO’S STORY
Page 1
The players do not have access to the following information. They will have to figure it out or research
parts of it through bard’s tales or magical means. This information is for the Game Master only in order
to understand and rollplay Ryoko correctly.
The information in the NPC Player’s Sheet is sufficient to hand it to someone, say a player’s girlfriend or
wife, who wants to play. (It does happen.) And while this may give other players insight into Ryoko it
won’t blow the mystique or ruin the campain.
Ryoko is a one-of-a-kind metallic blue (Cobalt) dragon who has been changed into a human. She is quite
Strong 18-(50), and beautiful (18). She is of medium dragon age; about 12 hit die (72 hit points). She
regenerates 1 hit point per round unless actually physically destroyed. She has many abilities and
powers from being a dragon;
1. She can fly at will (the same as using a fly spell;
base 12 movement, double movement if in
dragon form with wings)
2. She can polymorph, with special abilities
a. She can re-grow lost limbs
b. She can assume a doppelganger form where her
clothing is part of her body and may be changed
at will.
c. She can form a combat jumpsuit equivalent to +2
Chainmail (using something like a very fine mesh
of her old dragon scales, but with better fashion
sense.
3. She can see invisible objects
4. She radiates a fear aura when she is mad.
5. She can dimension door at will (like the spell), When in dragon form if ridden by someone
capable of teleporting, traveling planes, etc. she can be steered so as to Dimension Door as a
teleport and even cross planes and times. (Like the traveling between in the Dragonriders of
Pern series by Ann McAffee.) To take things with her they must be small in relation to her
size, like a mages items compared to his body mass (say <5% or her mass) and she must be
flying at full dragon speed (24”) to teleport or plane shift, but not dimension door. [No one
but Washu and her original owner know about the enhanced teleportation or plane shift
now].
6. Her breath weapons (12 six sided dice worth of damage by lightning or fire) now seem to
come out of her arms as if she had cast a spell in addition she has also learned to project her
breath weapons as a sword-like object force. This sword lasts 10 rounds and does the same
damage (electrical or fire, her choice when sword is created) as her breath weapon if it
scores a hit (roll saving throw for half damage). It uses one of her breath weapon attacks (she
only has three a day) to generate the sword. Note: after reviewing the series, the sword can
be thrown as a javelin and then reforms in her hand the next round. This sword is her

“indoor” or hand to hand combat breath weapon. Only good against one target per attack
not area of effect, but it lasts longer and can be used for multiple attacks for 10 rounds.
7. There was a sword created by Washu to destroy Ryoko which ompletely protects the wielder
from her and only her breath weapons and physical attacks, later this sword was given the
power to command Ryoko if a certain command word is known.
Initially, when the party meets her, she has amnesia after being asleep for centuries. She doesn’t
know her past or that she was a dragon. Someone will have to tell her. She has no possessions.
Ryoko’s Story:
Ryoko was initially created by a powerful Jennie, Washu, using one of her own embryo’s, as a flying
mount for an evil fighter/mage. As she grew she became more intelligent and later learned to use magic.
Washu still considers herself Ryoko’s mother. (Washu is actually the Goddess of the Jennies although
she calls herself the Queen of the Jinn.)
Ryoko (as made by Washu), is a one-of-a-kind female Cobalt Dragon (Blue Metallic Dragon). Like the
silver, gold, brass and copper dragons, this metallic dragon is very intelligent, can speak and use magic
spells, it flies by magic ,using a ‘Fly spell’ at will, with extra speed from wings, she can polymorph
(change shape), her breath weapons are lightning and fire and she was Chaotic Evil in alignment. She
has all other dragon properties; (sees things invisible, fear aura, etc.)
For centuries after freeing herself from her first master, Ryoko behaved as a dragon; causing destruction
throughout the continents (and other planes of existence) When Ryoko attacked and destroyed much of
the Elvin Kingdom of Jurai, as well as some of their neighboring kingdoms, Prince Yosho of Jurai, who
was engaged to the princess Ayeka, set out on a quest to destroy Ryoko.
Failing to hurt her substantially with conventional weapons, Yosho obtained three wishes from the
queen of the Jinn (Washu). To do this he exchanged 1000 years of his life for possession of her bottle.
The first wish he used to gain a magic sword which could destroy Ryoko. This was a powerful sword
indeed and to seal his future as king and to ensure his line would continue to rule, and to prevent the
sword from being used against him or his lineage in the future, part of the wording used in the wish was
that it could only be used by him and his descendents. He did not know that Washu originally created
Ryoko, only that her wishes were powerful.
Yosho pursued Ryoko from kingdom to kingdom and they became arch foes, and more. Ryoko stopped
destroying for pleasure but instead to draw this knight into combat. Her breath weapons useless and
Yosho’s sword deadly to her in physical combat, she was forced to fly away many times. As they met in
battle, first hurling insults, challenges and then questions, soon they learned each other’s names, and
histories and Yosho found himself thinking more of Ryoko as a person than a monster. Yosho found
Ryoko’s lair, and though she wasn’t there, he took from her much treasure and magic. Ryoko furious
then focused on killing Yosho and him alone, one on one, in vengeance for defiling her lair.
3. RYOKO’S STORY
Page 3
Ryoko changed herself into a beautiful woman, and found him at the court of a king. She needed to get
him away from the sword he always wore; she could not touch it and while he had it she couldn’t harm
him. Yosho fell in love with this strange girl, but he was betrothed to a princess back home, he could
allow nothing but friendship between them. She used his friendship to get close to him. She caught him
alone and tried assassinate him with human weapons. Her first attack failed to kill him, they fought, and
he realized who she was. He defeated her again, but at the last second he couldn’t kill her. He hesitated
and she transformed and flew off.
Yosho, now obsessed with Ryoko, used his second wish to make her human always as he had seen her.
He would track her down and capture her and they would be together. He would break her will; he
would change her into a woman inside. Washu tampered with the full meaning of this wish, because
Ryoko was her creation, her child, and she was proud of the powerful creature she had made. While
now she was in fact a human, she retained most of her dragon powers.
Yosho, returned to Ryoko’s lair and found her transformed, weeping in her huge cavern, but while her
natural form was human, she still had the ability to fly, to change shape, and use her breath weapons
(though now they resembled spell attacks).
Yosho realized she was still a beast despite her form, but he would have her. His last wish was to control
her, so that he would have the ability to make her obey him. Unexpectedly, all his wishes were
incorporated by Washu into the original sword. It was easier for her that way having already placed a lot
of magic in the sword. By using a magic word then speaking the command, Ryoko must obey the wielder
of the sword. If the sword is destroyed all wishes are voided and Ryoko’s natural form will again be a
dragon and uncontrollable, magic word or no.
Yosho found himself having exchanged a 1000 years of his life for three wishes, and much of what life he
had left had been wasted on a quest he could never complete. He knew in his heart that he had
betrayed his love for his fiancé, and knowing he would always love Ryoko, he now joined Ryoko. They
took over a small fortified castle. He had wanted to make her a lady, but instead he began acting more
like a dragon. Together they fought and pillaged until although he was acknowledged a king or baron
throughout their surrounding lands. But it was as a usurper king or a robber baron. While he could force
Ryoko’s body to obey him, he could not force her to love him or desire him. She was a dragon and he a
human. Though bit by bit she was becoming more human, he would never live to see it.
After another century, Yosho found himself old before half the usual allotted Elvin life span and Ryoko
still having, it seemed, a dragon’s life span. He became afraid of what he had done. If he died, he
pondered, would an heir of his take the sword and Ryoko to continue what he had started? He would
not allow it. He hired magicians. he set up an order of monks to guard a shrine which he had built below
his keep. He caused a secret room to be built below the shrine. To further secure it from ever being
found, his magicians folded it outside our plane, a pocket dimension, and barred the gate with intricate
spells. They spelled a gem in the swords hilt with a Magic Jar spell. Before he died Yosho ordered Ryoko
into the secret room and ordered her to sleep. He fixed the sword barring the door, and transferred his
mind into the gem and left his body to die. He would enforce his last command forever and he would

Page 4
watch over her for eternity. He left the castle to the monks as a monastery, never to let an outsider into
the shrine and he had ensured that even they would be always ignorant of the little room beneath.
Initially, when the party meets her, she has amnesia after being asleep for centuries. She doesn’t know
her past or that she was a dragon. Someone will have to tell her.
THE PARTY MEETS RYOKO
Not all knowledge of the fabled sword has vanished. Elowa will know a little about it and later learn of
Tenchi’s resemblance to Yosho. Otherwise some of the invisible stalkers chasing Elowa after her last
heist will drive the party to the Monastery. The monks will then be frightened by Tenchi’s resemblance
to the statues and paintings of Yosho that are left. Is he their destiny or their doom. Once Elowa’s
curiosity is aroused she will lead the party or at least Tenchi down to the secret room. Of course taking
the sword releases Ryoko. A chute should drop Tenchi down to her room. Let them meet and then get
Tenchi away. The light in the pool will go out, the monks panic.
Let the party enjoy the sword for a while. There must be lots of local opportunities for treasure to a
party with this kind of power. The will need the experience and levels for when Ryoko joins the party.
When the party gets in over their head, use Ryoko to save them. She is only after Tenchi because he has
something of hers. If Tenchi does release the sword use Yosho’s essence in the gem to possess Tenchi
and command Ryoko.
Ryoko will go away and later show up again to follow Tenchi, remembering that she used to love and
obey the sword wielder.
Class: Ryoko acts as a human is a female Fighter (12th Level) / Magic User (12th Level), but these are
innate abilities, she will not gain levels, nor can she loose levels. If she ever becomes an actual dragon
again she may be a considerably more powerful creature and will gain hit dice and her attacks will do
more damage as she ages.
Playing Ryoko as an NPC
Personality: Ryoko comes with the dragon personality tempered by a century of
human form. She is now Chaotic Neutral. It is hoped that through instruction
and interaction with true ladies showing her proper etiquette she will develop
the personality of a true lady and become Chaotic Good. This will take years
enforcing good behavior by Tenchi and Ayeka and Sasami.
Ryoko at present does not regard humans or elves or anything as people. She
has no qualms about killing strangers. Later on, members of the group will
treated as pets as long as they behave.
Love: She will not fall in romantic love with anyone, she might kiss a man or a puppy but she does not
desire to mate with one, While she won’t go around naked, she does not care if players see her naked
5. RYOKO’S STORY
Page 5
(you might get dressed with your dog in the room). She may tease her pets because she is amused with
silly human traits (look what a human will do for a kiss or a backrub), If anyone tries to get amorous with
her it will be treated as wrestling match (grappling) and she is strong and can shape shift (she wins, sits
on you, and tortures you).
Temper; Her temper is deadly. Angering her will result her using deadly force. She will radiate one round
of fear aura first, and then attack. Use this fear aura to get everyone out of there so there is less loss of
life and human suffering and the adventure is more fun and comical.
Greed: Initially when she meets the party she has nothing. She is fascinated with, and will collect; coins,
jewels, magic items, etc... She will not give up any of her hoard and will guard it fiercely. Like a dragon
she knows every item and can track it down. She would like to sleep naked on a bed of gold and silver
coins, curled up with some magic items. Don’t let her deal with bill collectors or customs agents by
herself. She can be bribed with coins and jewels, but it will turn out a little like feeding a bear, you can’t
close the bag and walk away. She will take it all before it’s over.
She will obey and follow (somewhat like a pet) the sword wielder. Deep down she remembers that she
loves and obeys the one who had the sword. But she will have to be defeated by the sword wielder and
Yosho’s personality will have to present itself before she remembers it. She will then be jealous of the
sword wielder’s attention.
While she doesn’t remember at first that she is a dragon she will instinctively use her breath weapons
and energy sword attack. But she will not count or ration the number of uses per day. She recharges
after 8 hours of sleep and only once per 24 hours.
Additionally she can use the spells she had memorized before she was trapped, but does not realize she
has to memorize more after their gone (She can read magic and memorize spells, but needs to be shown
how) and she doesn’t have a spell book or even know that she needs one.
Shape changing: Ryoko sometimes has a tail. If flying or in combat or just needing balance or speed she
will be seen sporting a slender tail. Because she was a dragon for centuries a tail feels right for balance.
She does it instinctively using her shapeshifting ability and does not always realize it’s there. She can
change into her dragon shape if angry enough but Yosho has told her not to use a dragon form and
commanded her to remain in human shape so often that she won’t become a dragon unless she really
forgets herself. Changing to dragon would be appropriate in situations such as if Tenchi was killed and
she went berserk or if fighting another dragon and down to ¼ of her hit points.
She very often fudges and, while technically in human shape, she uses a doppelganger form so that her
body can become her outfit. Her combat outfit looks like a red and black jumpsuit but it is part of her
and it is as strong as her old dragon scales. (Equivalent to +2 Chain Mail). It’s also quicker and more
comfortable to shapeshift from the appearance of loose robes into combat armor than to have to
change clothing. She can use a gaseous human form to go through things. She cannot take objects other

Page 6
herself into gaseous form, which is another reason to shape clothing. She can also re-grow limbs by
shapeshifting.
No, not everyone who can polymorph can do all this, but she is a one-of-a-kind creature and has had
hundreds of years to experiment with her shapeshifting ability. When Washu modified her form she also
made some improvements to her daughter.
