The International Union for the Conservation of Nature
(IUCN) has forecast that unless we do something,
30% of the world’s species of wildlife will disappear
over the next 50 years. Zoos are playing a vital role in
helping prevent this and Auckland Zoo is proud to be
at the forefront of these efforts.
The Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund supports
conservation efforts in the wild in two main ways:
• We support our own staff to develop or utilise
their specialist skills and participate in field
conservation initiatives. These can be projects led
by Auckland Zoo or by other conservation partners.
• We provide financial resources for external
organisations and individuals to carry out vital
field conservation work.
Check out the maps to see what we are doing both in
New Zealand and around the world.
