AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE EXHAUST AND ITS EFFECT ON ATMOSPHERE

ABSTRACT
We have been seen or study the global warming changes rapidly by newspaper, media as well as govt. sources.
These environment changes through different modes such as volcanic eruption, landslides, nuclear war,
industries, and automotive engines exhaust etc. These are the main aspect for climate changes and inviting acid
rain. The automotive engines exhaust and its effect on atmosphere are the main responsible for the global
warming changes. The automotive engine such as I.C engine either that was diesel or petrol engine basically
these engine unburned exhaust gases should be polluted environment which was produce hydrocarbon carbon
monoxide as well as nitrous oxide particulate matter due to exhaust leakage, flamequinching, spark miss fire, or
mixed lubricant should be used.due to this reasons effect on atmosphere should be increased rapidly that
should destroyed the ozone layer and also effect on human health such as lung cancer, heart attack , skin
diseases and many more. The main reason for this research how to control automotive engine exhaust and its
effect on atmosphere .Basically many changes should be performed before that.

I. INTRODUCTION
Automotive exhaust is types of pollution which was caused due to automotive sources such as car, bus, truck
etc.in other word we can said that those pollution which was made by automotive vehicles either that was
commercial vehicle or passenger vehicles which was directly affect the atmosphere and ozone layers and
human health that types of pollution called as automotive exhaust pollution. A French engineer Nicholas
curgnot was discovered self-propelled vehicle in 1769 which was moving its own power without given any
external source or heat. The ic engine which was discovered the German and French efforts in 1880.This
discovery was the most important in the history of automotive segment because in the present day all the
automotive segment should worked as I.C engine base.

government has been implemented different rules and regulation against the automotive engine exhaust. In the
norms of BS6 and BS4 stages the government has been implemented these acts .In the norms of BS 6 the
petroleum distillate vehicle 60 milli gram, particulate matter 4.5mg/km, nitrogen oxide 80 mg, particulate

matter 4.5 mg/km, HC + NOX 170mg/km these are the limit which government has been decided for the norms
of BS6 in other BS4 norms .which was recently has been dissolved in some state such as Delhi, pune, Mumbai,
Gujarat etc. These are the some main cities were BS 4 norms will be dissolved because in this norms of BS 4 the
government has been told them that the engine manufacture companies those exhaust gases comes out through
the exhaust pipe is 0.75g/km but in comparison to the BS 6 the exhaust percent is much more in comparison to
the BS6 so that BS4 norms will dissolved recently in 2019

II. EFFECT ON ATMOSPHERE
Rapidly the climate and ozone layer has been depleted day by day the increasing of pollution through
automotive engine exhaust due to these reasons untimely raining seasons will be changed and different types
of diseases will be seen due to this effect the productivity of land will be decreasing day by day. The increasing
of pollution that also effect the land and water animals as well as birds .Automotive vehicles should be
increased rapidly by the manufacture company for income of money but they don’t think about the
environment what effect should be seen we can take the exam of most polluted cities in Asia such as Delhi,
Mumbai, Kathmandu, Bezing etc. These are the most polluted cities in Asia continent.
III. HISTORY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE
1. The French engineer discovered the first road self-propelled vehicle in 1769 by Captain Nicholas curgnot.it
was a three wheeler and four seater vehicle fitted with a steam engine. Its top speed should be 2.5 mph for
15 minutes.
2. The French efforts and German discovered an internal combustion automotive engine in 1880 which was
used to carry fruits and vegetable.
3. An internal combustion engine which was patented in 1885-86 by the Gottlieb Daimler and after that it was
being in used
4. Charles Duryea and Elwood Haynes in USA discovered experimental automobile in 1895 in this year .France
also developed a car by Levassor with minor exception incorporated the chief feature in automotive engines.
5. In the development fields of automotive engines in 1890-1895 European Automotive designer will be in
active in this research fields.
6. The automotive engines development and manufacturing process and sales should be active in 1906.
7. Initially the FORD will be manufactured 20000 k automotive engines in 1908.
IV. CONCLUSION
1. If we want to control the pollution then we have to use minimum limit of IC engines which was being
pollution may occurs at atmosphere.
2. The design of catalytic converter may also be changed.
3. The government has set the limit of automotive production.
4. We have more focused on electric vehicles as well as solar operated automotive vehicles.
5. We have to more focus on bio fuels which were produced less carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide and
hydrocarbon.
6. We should also be focused on battery operated vehicles. That helps to maintain ecofriendly environment.
7. We have to more focus on Alternative fuel to reduce.
8. The government should also implementation air filter in most polluted cities.
