This document summarizes research on the Australian political blogosphere after the 2007 federal election. It finds that major parties and media used blogs and social media similarly to the 2004 US election. However, differences remain due to Australia's compulsory voting and Westminster system versus the US presidential system. The researchers analyzed over 300 political blogs between November 2007 and January 2008 to map their link structures and content themes. They identified leading blogs and clusters discussing different issues. Further analysis of this data and new data collection on key topics and events was planned.
