EYUP CAN ASLANBAY
Australia officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is an Oceanian country
comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania,
and numerous smaller islands. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total
area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New
Guinea to the north; theSolomon Islands and Vanuatu to the north-east;
and New Zealand to the south-east
Canberra is the capital
city of Australia. With a population
of 381,488, it is Australia's largest
inland city and the eighth-largest
city overall. The city is located at
the northern end of the Australian
Capital Territory 280 km south
west of Sydney, and 660 km north-
east of Melbourne. A resident of
Canberra is known as a
"Canberran".
The National Museum of Australia was formally established by the National
Museum of Australia Act 1980. The National Museum preserves and
interprets Australia's social history, exploring the key issues, people and
events that have shaped the nation. The Museum did not have a permanent
home until 11 March 2001, when a purpose-built museum building was
officially opened in the national capital Canberra.
Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous
city in Australia and Oceania. Located on Australia's east coast, the
metropolis surrounds one of the world's largest natural harbours, and sprawls
towards the Blue Mountains to the west. Residents are together known as
"Sydneysiders" and constitute the most multicultural city in Australia and one
of the most multicultural cities in the world.
The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts
centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Situated on Bennelong
Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the facility is
adjacent to the Sydney central business district and theRoyal Botanic
Gardens, between Sydney and Farm Coves.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel through arch bridge across Sydney
Harbour that carries rail, vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic between
the Sydney central business district and the North Shore. The dramatic view of
the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic
image of Sydney, and Australia. The bridge is nicknamed "The Coathanger"
because of its arch-based design. Furthermore, the bridge is ubiquitously
known to Sydneysiders simply as "the Bridge".
The Blue Mountains is a mountainous
region in New South Wales, Australia.
It borders on Sydney's metropolitan
area, its foothills starting about 50
kilometres west of the state
capital. The public's understanding of
the extent of the Blue Mountains is
varied, as it forms only part of an
extensive mountainous area
associated with the Great Dividing
Range.
The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is a major botanical garden located in the
heart of Sydney, Australia. Opened in 1816, the garden is the oldest scientific
institution in Australia and one of the most important historic botanical
institutions in the world. It is open every day of the year and access is free. Its
stunning position on Sydney Harbour and immediately adjacent to the Sydney
CBD, the Sydney Opera House and the large public parklands of The
Domain ensure it is one of the most visited attraction in Sydney
Bondi Beach or Bondi Bay is a popular beach and the name of the
surrounding suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Bondi Beach is
located 7 km (4 mi) east of the Sydney central business district, in the local
government area of Waverley Council, in the Eastern Suburbs. Bondi, North
Bondi and Bondi Junction are neighbouring suburbs. Bondi is one of the most
visited tourist sites in Australia.
The food of Indigenous Australians was largely influenced by the area in which
they lived. Most tribal groups subsisted on a simple hunter-gatherer
diet, hunting native game and fish and collecting native plants and fruit. The
general term for native Australian flora and fauna used as a source of food
is bush tucker. The dessert (Pavlova) is believed to have been created in
honour of the dancer either during or after one of her tours to Australia and New
Zealand in the 1920s.
About 24% of Australians over the age of 15 regularly participate in organised
sporting activities.[ Australia has strong international teams
in cricket, hockey, netball, rugby league, and rugby union, having been Olympic
or world champions at least twice in each sport in the last 25 years for both men
and women where applicable
