Mufasa shows young Simba the Pridelands from atop Pride Rock and tells him that one day all the land that the light touches will belong to Simba. He explains the delicate balance of the kingdom and that as king, Simba must respect all creatures, from the smallest to the largest, as everything is connected in the great circle of life. Mufasa warns Simba not to go near the shadowy lands beyond their borders and explains that being king means understanding balance, not always getting his own way.
