Audio can be an effective instructional media when used properly. It has several advantages such as maintaining interest, clarifying concepts, and aiding memory. However, it also has some disadvantages such as consuming time, inability to learn to read, and needing close monitoring. There are several types of audio media including radio, tapes, CDs, mp3s, and wav files which can be analog or digital. Audio plays an important role in teaching listening skills, pronunciation, and intonation when used as part of instruction.
