I think the main target audience for this filmis younger children and teenagers due
to the filmbeing revolved around dinosaurs. However there are many scenes in this
movie which are likely to be
frightening for children.
The Indominus Rex which has been
created to be the most dangerous
dinosaur to have ever existed is
unsurprisingly frightening. The
scene in which the audience see it
for the first time is very ominous. It
hides among trees watching the
characters overlooking its enclosure, growling and these characters are clearly
unnerved by it.
When showing the Tyrannosaurus Rex enclosure, the camera focuses on a live goat
which has been tied to a stake in the ground and is clearly being used as bait. The
camera pans up to the tourists watching the spectacle as the T Rex approaches. The
tourists, including many kids, chant ‘eat it, eat it, eat it’; they then cheer as bones
can be heard crunching. While nothing violent or graphic is shown on camera, it is
obvious that the goat is eaten by the dinosaur and the callous attitude of the tourists
and their sheer delight in the goat being killed could be distressing and confusing for
some children. So I would say mainly teenagers.
I think that Jurassic world is a very mainstream film as it has had millions put in to
making the film and is also a very famous film. ‘Jurassic World’ is the fourth
instalment of the Jurassic Park franchise and, as it has been released fourteen years
after the third movie. ‘Jurassic World’ is definitely trending, making it much more
appealing to audiences who may have only become interested by the franchise. Also,
the main character in Jurassic World Bryce Dallas Howard stars in many other
mainstream films such as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Spiderman 3.
The BBFC rating for Jurassic world is a 12. Personally I think this is appropriate
as the film does include certain scenes that may not be suitable for children:
Several sequences of moderate threat include humans being chased by dinosaurs, or
hiding when aggressive dinosaurs are nearby. Some children are shown being scared
and upset, but they reassure each other and are not harmed; Occasional bloody
moments feature, without any strong detail or clear focus on injuries. There is sight
of blood spray on a window and some blood is seen falling through a tree canopy as
a person is killed by a dinosaur. A man is stabbed in the chest when a pterodactyl
flies into him; Action violence as dinosaurs chase and attack humans, with several
people picked up in the jaws of gigantic dinosaurs. Soldiers fire guns at the dinosaurs
to try and stop them. There are also some fights between dinosaurs. There is also
mild bad language, including several uses of 'shit' and 'son of a bitch'. If it was rated
anything under a 12 then I don’t think it would be as suitable due to the language
and violence.

The filmJurassic word fulfils boredom. It entertains its target audience by including
exciting and exhilarating moments in the film. It gives people a chance to forget
about the world including their problems and entertain their selves through the
cinema, with action thrilling, funny films. Jurassic world is quite a thrilling film
however this is quite a bit of comedy throughout.
The filmoffers utopian solutions and appeals to the audience’s need for
transparency, community, energy, intensity and abundance.
o Transparency: The dinosaur overpowers the humans by tricking them into
escaping.
o Community: The characters work together to stop the dinosaurs from
destroying the park.
o Energy: Owen (the hero) saves everyone by defeating the dinosaur.
o Intensity: The hero lives after almost being defeated by the dinosaur that is
100 times the size of him.
o Abundance: Helicopters and gadgets are used in this film to show how they
developed a dinosaur and made a new dinosaur by generating the DNA. Also,
the hero used a fast motorbike to chase after the dinosaur.
In my opinion, the films is a success because it appeals to its target audience. The
target audience either like the actors/actresses or all things to do with sci-fi and
dinosaurs.

3. The BBFC- the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), before 1985 known as
British Board Film Censors, is a non-government organization, founded by the film
industry in 1912 and responsible for the national classification and censorship of
films within the United Kingdom.
Segmentation- to divide the market place into parts or segments which are
definable, accessible, actionable, and profitable and have a growth potential. In
other words, a company would find it impossible to target the entire market,
because of time, cost and effort restrictions.
Target Audience- A particular group at which a product such as a film or
advertisement is aimed.
Mainstream- the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are shared by most people and
regarded as normal or conventional.
Niche- a fraction of a total market or an audience. A segment of the market or the
audience with highly specific needs which cannot generally be satisfied by many
service providers or marketers.
Demographics- statisticaldata relating to the population and particular groups
within it.
Psycho-graphics- the study and classification of people according to their attitudes,
aspirations, and other psychological criteria, especially in market research.
Uses and Gratifications- an approach to understanding why and how people actively
seek out specific media to satisfy specific needs. UGT is an audience-centred
approach to understanding mass communication.
Utopian solutions- a utopia is a perfect world, In utopias, there are not problems like
war, disease, poverty, oppression, discrimination, inequality, and so forth. The word
'utopia' was made up from Greek roots by Sir Thomas More. In 1516, More wrote a
book called Utopia. Depending on the Greek roots used, utopia can either mean 'no
place' or 'good place.'
