The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is responsible for developing, upgrading, maintaining, and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India. AAI provides air traffic services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas. It provides air traffic control, flight information services, alerting services, and air navigation services. These services require air-to-ground and ground-to-ground communication systems, as well as surveillance technologies like radar and ADS-B to monitor and guide aircraft traffic.

2. AAI
• Airports Authority of India(AAI), under
Ministry of Civil Aviation is responsible for
creating upgrading maintaining and managing
Civil Aviation Infrastructure in India.
• It provides Air Traffic Services (ATS) over
Indian Airspace and adjoining oceanic area.
• Apart from Civil Airports, it provides ATS in
some of the green field Airports, civil enclaves
and PPP Airports.

3. Introduction
• AAI provides Air Traffic Services as per AAI Act
1995. These services are :
1. Air Traffic Control Service
2. Flight Information Service.
3. Alerting Service
4. Air Navigation Service

4. • In order to Provide Air traffic services
following services are required:
– AMS
• Air to Ground
• and Ground to Ground
– AFTN
– Surveillance and Automation

• Area control service shall be provided by an
area control centre (ACC)
• Approach control service shall be provided by
by an approach control(APC) unit
• Aerodrome control service shall be provided
by an aerodrome control tower.
