AAI
• Airports Authority of India(AAI), under
Ministry of Civil Aviation is responsible for
creating upgrading maintaining and managing
Civil Aviation Infrastructure in India.
• It provides Air Traffic Services (ATS) over
Indian Airspace and adjoining oceanic area.
• Apart from Civil Airports, it provides ATS in
some of the green field Airports, civil enclaves
and PPP Airports.
Introduction
• AAI provides Air Traffic Services as per AAI Act
1995. These services are :
1. Air Traffic Control Service
2. Flight Information Service.
3. Alerting Service
4. Air Navigation Service
• In order to Provide Air traffic services
following services are required:
– AMS
• Air to Ground
• and Ground to Ground
– AFTN
– Surveillance and Automation
Air Traffic Control Services
• Area control service shall be provided by an
area control centre (ACC)
• Approach control service shall be provided by
by an approach control(APC) unit
• Aerodrome control service shall be provided
by an aerodrome control tower.

What is Navigation ?
• Navigation is the art of determining position
of an object and guiding to move from one
place to another.
• What is Navigational Aids or Nav-Aids?
– A navigational aid (also known as aid to
navigation, or navaid) is an instrument or
equipment which aids(help) the traveler in
navigation; the term is most commonly used to
refer to nautical or aviation travel.
