This document provides an overview of the proposed children's musical "A Tale of Two Cows". The title is a parody of "A Tale of Two Cities" to appeal to children. The plot involves two cows, Rodney and Cassie, who escape from their farm and embark on an adventure in the wilderness of Georgia, USA. There will be several songs throughout the musical. Eddie Murphy and Nancy Cartwright are proposed to voice the two main characters, while Vinnie Jones would voice the antagonist Brucie. Standard marketing tactics like a website, trailers, and TV spots are discussed to promote the film.

2. The Title – Why I Chose it
• The title is a parody of the book “A Tale of Two Cities” to
make it appeal more to children. Also it’s a rather simple title
which is important as the group the film is aimed towards is
children, so it can’t be too complicated.
• The use of the world tale is also important because it’s a
word that’s common in many children’s films, books and TV
programmes. This allows the children to relate to it more and
increase their excitement towards it

3. The Plot
As the audience will generally be children, the plot cannot be too complicated. The film will be set
in the Georgia, USA on a farm mostly out of way, near the wilderness. The film will begin with the
two main characters, Rodney and Cassie, speaking to each other about how they are cooped up
inside the farm’s field for their entire life. They will also mention the legendary ram called Brucie,
who escaped ten years ago. This will then initiate the first song of the musical, called “The Dream”.
After that, Rodney wonders around the field at night and noticed a broken part of the fence, big
enough for himself and Cassie. He rushes over to tell Cassie, who promptly agrees. The next scene
depicts their quick escape, of the dash through the gap in the fence and into the open plains next to
the farm. This will then initiate song, entitled “Freedom”.
The rest of the film will be about the adventures in trying to find a new place to live, a place where
they feel safe. There will be many events such as running away from the farmer’s truck, meeting
other animals out in the wilderness who are both friendly and dangerous. There will also be a love
aspect, as Rodney and Cassie begin to develop feelings for each other in their journey. On their
journey, they will hear mentions of Brucie (now known as “The Horn” who has turned into a bandit
ram who roams the wilderness, and will vow to stop him. To enhance the musical aspect, there will
be lots of songs in the film, an example of one is when they meet a tribe of rogue monkeys who
escaped from the local zoo, who proceed to a sing a song for them called “Ooh Ooh Aah”. Also
Brucie will have his own song, called “I am The Horn”

4. Conventions
• As mentioned in the plot, there will be multiple songs
performed by the wide array of characters, which enforce the
MUSICAL genre.
• The general setting and plot of the film is specifically designed
for CHILDREN. Example include talking animals, and a relatively
simple setting. Also the fact that the story is extremely easy to
follow and understand, and it’s not too complicated.

5. The Cast
Rodney – Eddie Murphy
I picked Murphy because of his extremely entertaining role of
“Donkey” in the Shrek films, and as my film is also animated I
felt he would make the perfect voice actor for the protagonist,
who is essentially a “wacky cow”. Much like Donkey was in
Shrek.
Cassie – Nancy Cartwright
Cartwright is most famous for voicing Bart Simpson in “The
Simpsons” and is extremely talented at voice acting in general.
With all the experience she has, she would bring a great voice to
the character. Plus it would also generate interest in the film due to
her fame.
Brucie / The Horn – Vinnie Jones
Often plays rather violent characters in films, but he could easily
pull off the voice for Brucie and put a comedic aspect towards the
role.

6. Making The Film Unique
Regarding it being unique, there’s not much being proposed that hasn’t been done
before in regards to the concept. However, the setting is rather unique as you don’t
see many films set in Georgian wilderness. There are endless possibilities with this
setting and there is even rooms for a sequel if the film is successful. I also hope for
the characters to end up being unique, much like Donkey in Shrek. Brucie should
also be quite a memorable and unique character, mainly as an evil ram hasn’t been
done before and Vinnie Jones’ voice will definitely add to the possibility
On the downside, the general story won’t be that unique but it will still work in the
long run. This is mainly due to the audience, which most likely won’t notice a story
that has been done a few times before.

7. Marketing
There will be pretty standard marketing for the film, some examples of the
things I want to do to generate interest –
•A website for the film, will all the information about it including cast, crew, release date
etcetera.
•Theatrical trailers to be shown a few months in advance at the cinema, mainly in other
children’s films so it gets across to the most relevant audience.
•TV spots for it on children’s channels nearer the date of release and during its showing
in the cinema.
•Trailers and TV spots to be uploaded onto Youtube to get the most amount of viewing.
•Perhaps a few interviews from the cast as to why they’re doing the film.
•Endorsement from other businesses – E.G Kelloggs putting film themed toys in cereals.
