3. In today’s society beauty can be argued as being valued more than being smart
What would be discussed/included in the documentary:
In recent years more young females are dropping out of education to become
models/actresses
Children beauty pageants are socialising young girls into thinking beauty is of
high importance rather than education
Celebrity role models nowadays focus more on selling
their beauty products than emphasising the importance of
education
In today’s society its now possible to succeed without
educational qualifications (this can be debated)
A 7 year old doing a
photo shoot for a
children’s beauty
pageant
E.g. Joey Essex earns
roughly £350,000 just
from TOWIE but left
secondary school with
only two GCSES
4. In today’s society, people are now more self conscious about their health
and the food they eat due to scandals like the horse meat situation
What would be discussed/included in the documentary:
How fast food places use statements like ‘100% beef’ and ‘freshly made
salad’ to create the idea they’re healthy
How farmers use of chemicals to make livestock
fatter (basically meatier for the customer)
In modern society not many people know the process
their food goes through
Scientists found that food that doesn’t
rot/looks the same after a long period of
time is beyond bad for you
5. Youth is now seen as a threat to society due to the media’s portrayal, in
today’s society youth are stereotyped through the media and cause rest
of society to fear them
What would be discussed/included in the documentary:
How youth is stereotyped in the media e.g. young males wearing
hoodies=gang members
TV shows present youth in a specific way that cause rest of society to
judge them
How both youth and older generation have way different views and
opinions about society
Different ways youth are
presented in media
6. My favourite topic is youth in media
Why I feel its the strongest option:
Its a debatable topic and many people have different opinions about the
youth.
Youth is a popular topic for documentaries and attracts a wide audience
regardless of ethnicity and age
Youth are an easy to access group since I’m a youth myself
Youth is a broad topic so it can easily be discussed
There are many things about the youth that is still not shown so even
though its a popular topic its still possible to cover things not done
before
7. Name Age Gender Topic they rather Reason why the think the topic is
effective
Matthew 14 Male Do we really know
what we’re eating
He loves food, and would find it
interesting how his favorite foods
are made and thinks its important to
know how our food is made
Riannah 19 Female Is beauty now more
important than
brains
She thinks this topic is
unique/different and thinks this
topic can be debated and would
want to know people’s different
opinions
Kayla 17 Female Is beauty now more
important than
brains
Finds the topic interesting and
thinks its relevant in today’s society
due to celebrities and the media
Deandre 17 Male Youth in the media As a youth himself, he finds this
topic relatable and would want to
know the reasons behind how youth
is portrayed in the media and also
different people’s opinions about
youth
8. Name Age Gender Topic they rather Reason why the think the topic is
effective
Tracey Ann 36 Female Is beauty now more
important than brains
Thinks this topic can be widely
debated, thinks this is a topic that
should be discussed in today’s
society because of how girls are
now socialized
Terence 20 Male Youth in the media Finds documentaries about youth
interesting and finds this topic
effective in today’s society due to
events like the riots and the
increase in gang crimes
Jordan 13 Female Do we really what
we’re eating
She eats different types of food
everyday so she thinks its
important for everyone to know
exactly what they’re eating
Loretta 55 Female Do we really know
what we’re eating
Because sometimes we’re eating
foods that is not nutritious or
healthy and we don’t even know it
