Touring theatres –the company stage manager in a touring production is
required to manage the actors, touring van, get in and out and the lighting and
sound, although the actors will often assistwith get in and get outs when a
show is being toured.

West endtheatres - in the westend the ASM’s main job is to look after and
organiseprops and furniture for each performance, making surethey are all
set in the correctplace for the startof the show. Justbeforethe show starts
the ASMwill makesure the cast are standing by ready for the show, when the
performanceis happening the ASMwill be handing the cast props and cueing
them onstageas well as trying to assistwith any problems that may arise.
During the preproduction the ASMwill attend also the firstrehearsal and any
others that they see necessary to be in.

Mediumtheatres –an assistantstagemanager will work as part of a team
alongside the stage manager, director, designer. The assistantstagemanager
must supportthe stagemanager to allow the smooth running of the show to
