Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

to list you is often as simple as asking. Before you do, make sure your website is on par (in terms of
quality, design, etc.) with the others they list. It also helps to have a few testimonials on your site to
increase their confidence that you’ll be a quality source for customers.
Apart from the SEO benefits of the links, you’ll find that traffic from a manufacturer’s site converts at a
significantly higher rate and can be a great source of direct sales.
3. Get Them to Link to Your Website
A great place to get trusted links is from your suppliers. As a matter of fact it’s one of the most
obvious link building strategies for businesses to engage in. Most suppliers want their products
to move, so showing people where they can buy their product is kind of a no-brainer for
them.
Some suppliers, usually bigger ones, won’t link to online stores to make sure they keep all their
customers happy. And that’s fine. That’s why you shouldn’t forget to ask your smaller suppliers
for backlinks, especially the ones that are just starting out. They are usually more inclined to do
so and don’t have the bureaucracy in place yet, the kind that make website changes nearly
impossible.
4. Get a link from the manufacturer who’s products you carry. Often it’s just sending
them an email and asking them for a link that will do the trick. You may have to
convince them you are legit, so if you have a ho-hum website with crappy content,
they won’t buy it and will probably think you are a spammer.

sequence (a series of autoresponders). An autoresponder is an email that you set
up to automatically be sent to new subscribers at a certain time after they initially
sign up.
The advantage of an autoresponder series over a newsletter is that
it doesn’t require you to constantly create new content--once you
write and set up the series, it’s all automated for new subscribers.
You might want to set up two landing pages – one that offers a weekly newsletter, and
one that offers a free course. Then, send traffic to both pages and see which one
converts better. Every audience is different, so it’s always a good idea to test and see
what works best for your niche.

list, but in my experience this is more trouble than it’s worth. I’d recommend
instead generating a single discount code that can be used an infinite number
of times, but making sure that it is only available for a certain time period. If you
do this, make sure to mention in your email copy that the discount code expires
on a certain date.
This type of limited-time offer serves two purposes: first, it prevents customers from
using the code multiple times at any time in the future that they want to, and
second, it creates a sense of urgency that encourages subscribers to purchase
something now rather than waiting until later.
