Gender mainstreaming and gender analysis in work addressing risk reduction: G...Oxfam GB
Understanding how gender relations shape women’s and men’s lives is critical to disaster risk reduction (DRR). This is because women’s and men’s different roles, responsibilities, and access to resources influence how each will be affected by different hazards, and how they will cope with and recover from disaster. This presentation contains help and advice on carrying out gendered CVA. This presentation is part of Oxfam GB's Gender and Disaster Risk Reduction training pack available at www.oxfam.org.uk/genderdrrpack.

This week students will:
1. Compare and contrast cost benefit analysis and cost utility analysis.
2. Analyze the role of pricing transparency in health care.
3. Develop a SWOT analysis for a proposed health care services project.
Introduction
Price setting and profitability depend on several factors as stated by Porter’s model, which include nature of rivalry, bargaining power of customers (patients) and risk of entry by potential rivals. This week, we will explore health administrative innovations with an eye toward health care delivery and service demands. It is critical to appraise projects using cost benefit analysis and utility analysis to ascertain if a procedure is worth the cost or if a specific process can be done more efficiently. In addition, this has to take into account pricing. As noted in our text, “Pricing is a continuing challenge for healthcare organizations for three reasons” (Lee, 2009, p. 169). First, leaders don’t have clear pricing strategy. Second, leaders lack the necessary data to make a good decision and, finally, one pricing model does not fit every department or organization (Lee, 2009). This week we will explore aspects of pricing transparency as well as ideas on how clear strategies and accurate data are necessary in good decision making.

Assignment Developing Organizational Policies and PracticesAbramMartino96
Assignment: Developing Organizational Policies and Practices
Competing needs arise within any organization as employees seek to meet their targets and leaders seek to meet company goals. As a leader, successful management of these goals requires establishing priorities and allocating resources accordingly.
Within a healthcare setting, the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients are often in conflict. Mandatory overtime, implementation of staffing ratios, use of unlicensed assisting personnel, and employer reductions of education benefits are examples of practices that might lead to conflicting needs in practice.
Leaders can contribute to both the problem and the solution through policies, action, and inaction. In this Assignment, you will further develop the white paper you began work on in Module 1 by addressing competing needs within your organization.
To Prepare:
· Review the national healthcare issue/stressor you examined in your Assignment for Module 1, and review the analysis of the healthcare issue/stressor you selected.
· Identify and review two evidence-based scholarly resources that focus on proposed policies/practices to apply to your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
· Reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Discussion post regarding competing needs.
The Assignment (4-5 pages):
Developing Organizational Policies and Practices
Add a section to the paper you submitted in Module 1. The new section should address the following:
· Identify and describe at least two competing needs impacting your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
· Describe a relevant policy or practice in your organization that may influence your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
· Critique the policy for ethical considerations, and explain the policy’s strengths and challenges in promoting ethics.
· Recommend one or more policy or practice changes designed to balance the competing needs of resources, workers, and patients, while addressing any ethical shortcomings of the existing policies. Be specific and provide examples.
· Cite evidence that informs the healthcare issue/stressor and/or the policies, and provide two scholarly resources in support of your policy or practice recommendations.

Why Does African American Mothers Use More Intense Disciplinary Practice Than African American Fathers?
Both paternal and maternal parent usually apply several disciplinary methods such as restriction and physical punishments to their children to enhance ethical behaviors. However, there are factors such as personal perspective, authoritarian levels, culture, permissiveness, emotional factors, ethnicity, and family conflict that influence and impact how either of the two parents fosters discipline in a given family (Ilie, 2017). Due to changes in different areas such as culture, economic status, and government regulation policies parenting roles and disciplinary actions have gradually changed. Additionally to the changes, Africa American parents have the extra role for preparing their children to survive and thrive in the environment that, for a long time, has been characterized by unfair and hostile conditions (O’Rourke, 2017).
This article is an annotated bibliography focus on five sources for a research proposal about different factors/ why maternal Africa American disciplinary practices are more intense as compared to paternal disciplinary practices. This is a unique area of study that will provide additional information on parenting discipline-oriented students that already exists.
The research questions include find out the factors that promote maternal parenting and foster for more disciplinary practices, what external changes or social changes that lead to intense maternal disciplinary practices and environmental change that influence parenting roles in the Africa American society.
The research hypothesis will include maternal disciplinary practice are more intense than paternal disciplinary practice in an Africa American community. The null hypothesis for this research will include parental disciplinary practices are more intense than maternal disciplinary practices rationale (Ganeshpurkar et al., 2018).
The total population of black Americans in the U.S in 2017 was 41.4million citizens representing 13.4% of the total U.S population ("U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts," 2019). Give this kind to a considerable community and their life under a sophisticated environment. This influences how they speed their daily life and a clear understanding of their parenting practices such as discipline children is a crucial factor for sociology and psychology (Perkins-Mangulabnan & Flynn, n.d). This research will provide counselors and psychologist with essential information that help to implement non-judgment suggestion during counseling and hence improve their efficiency in their practices.

Stakeholder Communication in Health Information Systems
Scenario
Refer to the Vila Health scenarios that you have been using throughout this course. The intended audience for this analysis will be one of the stakeholder groups presented in the media simulation.
You have been asked to complete a stakeholder analysis as it relates to informing stakeholders about the process of how you came to your recommendations you previously made regarding the EHR or HIM system at Independence Medical Center. Another aspect of the analysis is to summarize the impact of your recommendations on stakeholder groups and develop strategies for overcoming barriers related to implementing your recommendations.
Instructions
For this assessment, you will analyze the stakeholders that Vila Health Independence Medical Center must recognize as it adjusts to changes, upgrades, and implements your recommendations to the EHR or HIM systems. You will want to refer to the recommendations you made in the first assessment as well as any feedback that you received from your instructor.
For the deliverable, you will write a 3–5-page executive summary detailing your previous recommendations and your timeline for them. Additionally, you will analyze how your recommendations impact considerations such as resource allocation, training, and workflow changes as well as best practices for overcoming implementation barriers. Finally, you will complete the Stakeholder Matrix Template linked in the Resources, aligning critical success factors with the primary internal and external stakeholders. Include a value statement for each stakeholder. (A value statement meets the needs and values of each key decision maker. See example in the Stakeholder Matrix Template.)
For this assessment you will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Describe the relevant stakeholders related to an impact analysis.
Explain the process used to arrive at recommendations related to a HIM system.
Describe a timeline for implementing recommendations related to a HIM system.
Analyze the impact and value of recommendations on relevant stakeholders and an organization with relation to considerations such as patient outcomes, new training, resource allocation, and workflow changes.
Analyze best practices to overcome barriers in creating buy-in from stakeholders and implementation related to recommendations.
Develop value statements for relevant stakeholder groups related to critical success factors and recommendations related to a HIM system.
This criterion relates to the Stakeholder Matrix Template.
Communicate analysis of stakeholders and value of recommendations in a manner that is clear and concise.
Integrate relevant sources to support assertions, correctly formatting citations and references using current APA style.

Help with my question:
Develop and record a 10-15 slide, asynchronous, audiovisual presentation for policymakers, soliciting resource and policy support for the community health care system change you proposed in the previous assessment.
Introduction
Nurse leaders must be able to make effective financial and policy decisions. Equally important is the ability to communicate their vision for change to policymakers and provide objective, evidence-based support for their position with respect to the regulatory, political, social, ethical, legal, and financial aspects of systemic change.
This assessment provides an opportunity to develop a presentation aimed at soliciting resource and policy support for the community health care change you proposed in Assessment 3.
Preparation
The executive leaders at Vila Health accepted your change proposal and would like to move it forward. However, lasting change in a volatile regulatory and policy environment will require adequate funding and support from the applicable governing body or regulatory agency. Consequently, you have been asked to present the proposed change to policymakers to seek their support and funding for the change as an established policy for the organization and community.
To prepare for this assessment, you are encouraged to begin thinking about funding and securing policy support for lasting change. In addition, you may wish to:
Review the assessment requirements and scoring guide to ensure that you understand the work you will be asked to complete.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
