Asco was an influential Chicano art collective active in Los Angeles in the 1970s. Composed of Harry Gamboa Jr., Gronk, Willie Herrón, and Patssi Valdez, Asco used multimedia works, public displays, and performance art to respond to social and political issues in Los Angeles and beyond. An exhibition at LACMA and BCAM featured Asco's works from 1972 to 1987 including pieces like "Instant Mural" and "First Supper After a Major Riot" that addressed topics like urban unrest through unconventional artistic forms.
