The HBSAASU is a student organization at Harvard Business School founded in 1969 to provide African American students with a cultural, social, and academic community. It aims to help these students succeed through networking events, mixers, academic support, and connections to local businesses. The cultural significance is that it fulfills the need for minority students, like African Americans, to connect with others of similar backgrounds to strengthen their cultural identity and feel less isolated while studying at HBS.

Last year, at dozens of colleges and universities across the United States, students protested institutional unresponsiveness to pervasive issues of racial inequity. Most media attention disproportionately focused on the popularity of the protests as opposed to the actual issues underlying campus unrest. For example, instead of deeply exploring the experiences that ignited demonstrations among students at the University of Missouri, journalists wrote mostly about the football team's threat to cancel its game against Brigham Young University, the potential financial implications of the team's activism, and the eventual resignations of the system president and the chancellor of the university's flagship campus. Similarly, news coverage of protests at Yale University concentrated less on students' frustrations with the university's climate of racial exclusion and more on e-mails about potentially offensive Halloween costumes and perceived threats to free speech.
It is important for faculty members to understand that students were protesting racism. It is also essential that professors recognize how they, often unknowingly and inadvertently, say and do racist things to students of color in the classroom. Student uprisings were as much a response to negative experiences with their peers and administrators as they were expressions of frustration with the cultural incompetence of their teachers. Students of color did not suddenly start experiencing racist stereotyping and racially derogatory comments, disregard for the thoughtful integration of their cultural histories in the curriculum, and threats to their sense of belonging in college classrooms during the 2015-16 academic year. We know from our work as scholars at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education that these problems are long-standing.
College presidents, provosts, deans, and other institutional leaders hire researchers from the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education to spend three to four days on their campuses doing racial climate assessments. At some places we are asked to focus on racial and ethnic differences among faculty and staff members in their feelings of inclusion, respectability, and opportunities for fair and equitable professional advancement, as well as on racial tensions in workplace settings. But on most campuses, administrators ask us to assess the racial climate for students -- feelings of inclusion and belonging across racial and ethnic groups, the extent to which students interact substantively across difference, where and what students learn about race, appraisals of institutional commitments to fostering inclusive environments, and characterizations of the supportiveness of cla.

1. Which paradigm does this publication speak from, editorially? Explain how you know.This paper has a Single Studies Group Paradigm as it focuses on the American Indian Communities, and their experiences, politics and events, specifically that of Minnesota. For example articles about Rep. Susan Allen, the first Native American Women to serve in the MN State Legislation, American Indian students who are wining education awards and about tribal innovations in recycling and waste disposal.
There is an element of Social Reconstructionism also to this paper as there is a lot political discourse, in particular of those items that have historical roots and the implications of this events on present day circumstances. There is examination of what should be done to strengthen the people and correct past discrepancies to the race. Some of the suggested reforms are controversial in nature, including for the white culture in Minnesota, but even within the American Indian community itself, which calls for critical thinking and collaborative problem solving. Examples that reflect this paradigm would be an article discussing the use if Indian names as college sports mascots – some tribes are OK with it, and some are not, and about tribal members different perspectives and validity of Tribal Elections.

As an African American, it is the experience of cultural immersion provides a greater understanding of personal biases and prejudices, and enhances the understanding vis-a-vis comparison to others. African Americans in United States are in minority, but they are the largest group within the minority segment. Throughout the history of United States, African Americans have struggled to achieve liberation at various levels and at different phases of history, that is, from the slave era to recent era of racial profiling, etc.

Identification of Population
Indian Muslim diaspora living in the New York city is part of the metropolitan life, but simultaneously brings a unique cultural contribution to the society. Lives of Muslims in United States is significantly different form that of Muslims living in India, though minority status is common to the target population. A family unit is strong amongst the community members, and relatively less integrated in the society. Indian Muslims are more integrated within South Asian community which comprise of Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi diaspora. Mostly, Muslim community members are friends with Indians and Pakistanis, and religion play a relatively lesser role in keeping good terms. Preference to socialize in society with Muslims is supplemented by the youth factor which pays less attention to the faith factor.
Role of Faith in Socioeconomic Relationships
There are some obvious differences between Indian Muslims and African American, one of them is faith. Christianity and Muslims have a unique relationship all over the world, such as, Muslims believe Jesus to be righteous prophet and henceforth, Christianity was the true religion before Islam. On the other hand, non-Muslims Hindus majority in India are not close to each other, if compared with Christian-Muslim relationship, especially of the western world. Though, Muslims and Hindus are still in better relationship as compared to the same communities at home countries, and this owe much to the nation building process in South Asia, along with element of modernity in the new generations born and raised in United States, and globalization.
In the past, I used to perceive Indian-Muslims as less hardworking and more of conservatives, though many stereotypes related to extremist personalities exist. But the visits provided me an insight into the intelligent, cultured, and pluralist in conversation community living in United States. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people.
