is possible!
So, Olivia, tell us about your rise to fame.
Well,I was on the internet one day, when I came across peopledoingcovers and uploadingthem to YouTube, I
thought, well I can do that! I am a small girl fromBirminghamand so to achieve this is beyond my wildest
dreams. I’ve always been interested in singingand YouTube was a way to do that without being in front of a
huge crowd.
Your new single, ‘Right Now’ became number 1 pretty quickly! It was the UK’s 2015 Christmas number one,
beating the X Factor single and One Direction! How did that feel and what was the inspiration behind the song?
I went through a tough time atschool,as I was bullied and alone.I never thought this amount of fame and
success would come to someone likeme. Girls used to call me names and pick on me for no reasons, this was
why I wrote my singlebased on these experiences, I was angry and ‘Right Now’ was a way for me to vent my
anger. It was amazingto have my firstever singlebecome a number 1!
What music do you listen to?
Growing up I always used to listen to pop classicsfrommy parents, The Beatles, for example as their lyrics
meant something meaningful.I always aspired to be likethem, and here I am! But right now I loveThe Amps,
1D and of courseT-Swizzle. But my pop icon heroes growing up were defo Madonna and Britney.
You always seem to be ahead of the trends, so tell us, your trademark glamourous necklaces, what’s the
inspiration behind them?
2. I always admired the shininessof them and I think they make any plain outfitstand out. Hence, why I decided
to name my album,‘Shine Gold’ as this represents how everyone should stand out.
And the single, where were you when you found out it had gone to number 1 in the UK Charts?
That’s a funny story actually;I was on an airplaneon the way to my next tour date, Germany, so obviously my
phone was off. I forgot to switch iton when I landed and once I got to the concert venue and switched it back
on I had 167 missed calls… Oops!!
Speaking of the tour how many dates are you doing?
I am doing 35 shows this year, it’s crazy isn’tit?! The tickets sold out in less than 1 hour, keep your eyes peeled
though as I am releasing10 extra dates, very soon… When you buy the album, there’s a secret code which gets
you pre-saletickets (hint hint)
That’s so exciting! I’m definitely going to be getting some tickets! Are you allowed to tell us who the supporting
act is?
You’ll have to waitand see… I know how important itis to supportsmaller supportingacts, likewhen I was the
act for One Direction;nobody even knew my name before that! I am very thankful to them for givingme that
opportunity – I got to perform at crazy places likethe O2 arena.
Spill the beans… what is One Direction really like on tour?
They’re the same as they portray themselves, only cheekier- I had a few pranks played on me by a certain
person, head over to my Twitter to see what happened @livjofficial
Whilst on stage you like to wear very high heels! What’s the secret for mastering the walk?
Honestly – practisemakes perfect!
What’s your most embarrassing moment?
I would have to be when I fell off the stage mid-way through a songwhilston tour in Los Angeles, I ended up
limpingoff stage with a sprained ankle!
3. We’re now in 2016,what’s your ambition for this year?
I would love to be ableto have a number one albumthis year, also I would loveto win a BRIT award –but
that’s wishful thinking.
