COMPUTER/DIGITAL
ARTS
Lesson 1
INTRODUCTION
 Digital art is an artistic
work or practice that
uses digital technology
as an essential part of
the creative or
presentation process.
The impact of digital
technology has transformed
activities such as painting,
drawing, sculpture, and
music or sound art, while
new forms, such as net art,
digital installation art and
virtual reality, have
become recognized artistic
practices.
Digital art can be purely
computer-generated, such
as fractals and algorithmic
art or taken from other
sources, such as a scanned
photograph or an image
drawn with vector graphics
software using a mouse or
graphic tablets.
COMPUTER-GENERATED
IMAGES
LESSON 2
• Is an application of computer
graphics to create or contribute
to images in art, printed media,
video games, films, television
programs, commercials, videos
and simulators.
• The visual scene maybe dynamic or
static, and may be two-dimensional
(2D), though the term “CGI” is most
commonly used to refer to 3D
computer graphics used for
creating scenes or special effects in
films and television.
The term ‘CGI animation’ refers to
dynamic CGI rendered movie.
The term virtual world refers to
agent-based, interactive
environments.
Computer graphics software is
used to make computer-
generated imagery for films,
video games, television shows,
and advertisements.
DIGITAL
PHOTOGRAPHY
LESSON 3
Digital art is a form
photography that uses cameras
containing arrays of electronic
photo detectors to capture
images focused by a lens, as
opposed to an exposure on
photographic film.
The captured images are
digitalized and stored as a
computer file ready for further
digital processing, viewing,
digital publishing or printing.
Digital photographs are typically
created solely by computer-
based photoelectric and
mechanical techniques, without
wet bath chemical processing.
Digital photography is one of
several forms of digital imaging.
Digital images are also created
by non-photographic equipment
such as computer tomography
scanners and video telescope.

The first consumer digital cameras
were marketed in the late 1990s.
2007, digital cameras were
incorporated in cellphones and in
the following years, cellphone
cameras becomes widespread.
2010, the digital point-and-shoot
and DSLR (digital single-lens reflex)
formats have also seen competition
from mirrorless digital camera
formats but comes in a smaller size
and shape than the typical DSLR.
VIDEO GAMES
LESSON 4
Video Game is an electronic game
that involves human interaction
with a user interface to generate
visual feedback on a device such as
television screen or computer
screen.
The word VIDEO in video game
traditionally referred to a raster
display device, but nit now implies
any type of display device that can
produce two-or-three dimensional
images.
The electronic system used to play
video games are known as
platforms.
