A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Are Pipefitters In Demand In The USA?
Predictions say that the demand for pipefitters will rise by 16% from 2020 to 2030. This is
substantially faster than the overall average for all occupations. Instead, new buildings and the
need to maintain and repair plumbing systems in existing flats will drive demand for pipefitters.
Apart from that, about 50,000 opportunities for plumbers and pipefitters are proposed each
year over the decade. Most of those openings are the result of replacing workers who transfer
to different occupations.
2. Difference Between Pipefitters And
Plumbers
Pipefitter and plumber are usually confused with each other. But they are different trades with
different sets of roles and responsibilities. Hence, if you want to become a plumber or a
pipefitter, it’s good to know that these two jobs are separate.
Pipefitters are more focused on furnishing specialized pipes to deal with pressurized
substances. However, plumbers typically examine more common residential services like
bathrooms and drains. Pipefitters typically work with probable hazardous substances in a more
specialized, automated context.
3. Pipefitter Duties
Connecting structures like radiators and vessels
Hold and seal pipe lengths
Weld and join pipe segments
Plan pipe layouts and design systems
Extract and replace worn elements
Clean piping arrangements
Manage hazardous materials like steam, gas, acid, and more
Investigate and examine piping structures for security
4. Plumber Duties
Install, repair, and maintain valves, fixtures, and pipes
Collude with contractors and electricians
Examine blueprints
Conduct routine investigations
Answer and fix plumbing emergencies like leakages or obstructed drains
