This document discusses requirements for ARC/NHMRC grant compliance regarding open access publication mandates. It notes that metadata is required as soon as a paper is accepted for publication, and that the accepted manuscript must be made openly accessible within 12 months of publication. It specifies that the ARC policy applies to all grants awarded after January 2013, while the NHMRC policy applies to publications from July 2012 onwards. Responsibility for compliance lies with the chief investigator, who must provide metadata and the accepted manuscript version to the institutional repository. Researchers are advised to contact the library regarding submitting new or existing publications for mandate compliance.
