When drinking and driving, alcohol impairs visual abilities, decreases reaction time, and increases risks. Drinking also negatively impacts physical performance by slowing reflexes and coordination. The legal drinking age varies by country but is 18 in most European nations. In Italy, over 40% of those aged 18-24 report drinking, and alcohol is implicated in about one-quarter of deaths of those aged 15-19. Italian law tightly regulates alcohol sales and advertising to minors due to health and safety concerns.

5. The laws against alcohol
• In Italy since 11th
October 2012 they have enacted a law that allows you
to purchase alcohol under the age of 18 years old. If this law is not
fulfilled, the shop licence will be revoked. This is because in recent years,
Italy has seen an increase in alcohol among minors.
• Many of Italian alcohol control measures essentially date back to the fascist
period. The laws passed during that period limited the production and
distribution of alcoholic beverages
• From 1990 to 1992 , six more alcohol-related laws or decrees were passed in
the Italian parliament. Three of them were applications of EEC directives on
alcohol advertising
• The 2001 Alcohol Act prohibits alcohol advertisements
addressed to young people and establishes that a self-regulation
code has to be provided together by broadcasting companies,
advertisement agencies and producers.
