the first network of design tourism in Italy
Over the last few years, the world of tourism has undergone
profound transformation. Much of its development has seen a
shift from mainstream, standardized trips to more unique
experiences with focuses on areas like cultural tourism, sports
tourism, environmental tourism, and gastronomy.
Architectours.it looks to expand the market further into the
creative industry, by bringing light to the important impact that
design and architecture has on the social, cultural, and economic
development of a country. This is design tourism.
Tourism system evolution
Italy can be considered the largest ‘open air’ design museum in
the world in its own right.
It is home to more than 25,000 design manufacturers, alongside
over 3400 museums, 2100 archaeological locations and parks,
and is the country with the most number of properties (53)
included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Thus, its
position as the cultural centre of the world, makes it a reference
to the rest of the globe for the historical and contemporary
lifestyle it exudes.
Vision
As a pioneering father of design, it is one of the leading exporters
of beauty and quality.
Even as production processes become more technological,
Italian companies continue to embrace the country’s strong
tradition of handmade, high quality craftsmanship. This has
allowed it to maintain the hallmark of innovation and aesthetic
that is associated with the term ‘Made in Italy’, and which
continues to see the country at the forefront of design today.
Architectours.it is a great opportunity to meet and network with
design protagonists, while getting a behind-the-scenes look at
the industry.
Why design tourism in Italy?
Get to know premium Italian design brands by visiting their
headquarters and the territories where they are based. See Made
in Italy products where they are made.
Our educational and design tours are tailored to let you understand
the Italian design firms from another point of view: from the inside,
from the “behind the scenes”.
We design real brand experiences byvisiting premium design
companies in Italy, headquarters, offices, factories, in-house
showrooms but even the rich architectural framework where these
firms are based.

Our purpose is to connect architects, interior designers and design
students with Italy’s leading manufacturers and companies
Manifesto
A design tour will take you inside the headquarters, where the interior, just as much as the exterior, embraces Valcucine’s design
philosophy and concepts which embodies freedom, lightness, momentum, and flight. It is here where you will get a first-hand look at
the research and technologies put into producing smart kitchens that are extremely high performing, yet have a low environmental
impact. While touring Valcucine, you will witness how the brand has re-envisioned the kitchen space, and the components that define
it, and see just how material, form, and function go hand-in-hand. A visit to Valcucine will bring insight of how, to this day, Italian brands
continue to design with purpose and integrity.
Magis has been collaborating with leading international creatives on a fantastically diverse range of products for more than 40
years. Defined neitherby material or form, the design that emerges from the Italian furniture company is not so much about the
conception of a chair, a table, a lamp or a car, than it is about the thought process and business culture that has been guiding it on a
unique journey, and which has earned it international distinction.
A Lago design tour with Architectours will offer insight into how the brand puts its consumers at the heart of their designs. As we take
you through the company’s creative happenings, we will give you the opportunity to observe the framework of its product line.
Touring theirstudio will give you a first-hand look at the company’s emphasis on modularity and its commitment to making sure each
of their clients, private or commercial, is the true designer of their project. You will gain understanding into how Lago develops
systems of diverse elements that can be composed in a range of ways so that anyone can obtain a space that is directly in line with
their own personality and needs. A Lago design tour will provide a deeper appreciation for customization andhow it can be applied in
various design capacities for indoor and outdoor living — from style to size to composition to material finishes — whether it is for your
home, office environment, hospitality or retail.
Since 1994, the furniture brand has been defending its own notion of ‘Made in Italy’, working with the belief that by sharing the path
that each piece of their furniture takes, clients will see the overall value of the work and have a better overview of the products they
make.
Our Kristalia design tour includes a visit to its new headquarters whose architecture is an extension of the company’s key values:
transparency and sustainability. These principles are evident through the way in which Kristalia approaches each of its projects —
from production processes to advertising — and are physically expressed through the architecture of its production facilities.
It all started in a small laboratory in the historical centre of the Italian town of Piacenza during the late 1980s.
Davide Groppi was inventing and producing his first lamps and decided simply to use his own name for the name of the company.
Creative independence and passionate, unconventional management have allowed him, over time, to learn and develop his own
brand of original and unique products, currently distributed the world over.
Simplicity, weightlessness, emotion and creative invention are the fundamental components of each lamp or lighting project
designed by Davide Groppi. Davide Groppi creations are never conceived as just lights or lamps. They come about through the need
to give life to something that is necessary or significant.
Completely Made in Italy,Rexa’s products are realized using manual expertise combinedwith high technology numerically
controlled machinery to create an end product of utmost quality. Combining new materials with rigorous, sartorial designs and
excellent production processes that make it possible to personalize most of the products in the catalogue, the company has
evolved to enable the production process to be almost entirely carried out inside the plant located in San Quirino (PN), a new site
and production plant in (Pordenone) inaugurated in August 2012
