The FlexTiles project proposes a 3D stacked chip architecture consisting of a manycore layer, FPGA layer, and 3D network-on-chip (NoC). This architecture aims to provide both good parallelization capabilities and customizable hardware through runtime reconfiguration of the FPGA layer. A holistic approach is taken including models of execution, computation, and programming to efficiently map applications to the flexible hardware and enable self-adaptive capabilities such as dynamic task allocation and hardware migration in response to changes.

This paper presents the research work on multicore microcontrollers using parallel, and time critical
programming for the embedded systems. Due to the high complexity and limitations, it is very hard to work
on the application development phase on such architectures. The experimental results mentioned in the
paper are based on xCORE multicore microcontroller form XMOS®. The paper also imitates multi-tasking
and parallel programming for the same platform. The tasks assigned to multiple cores are executed
simultaneously, which saves the time and energy. The relative study for multicore processor and multicore
controller concludes that micro architecture based controller having multiple cores illustrates better
performance in time critical multi-tasking environment. The research work mentioned here not only
illustrates the functionality of multicore microcontroller, but also express the novel technique of
programming, profiling and optimization on such platforms in real time environments.

Computing resources are being transformed into a model consisting of services that are delivered in a similar way to traditional utilities such as water or electricity. One of the computing paradigms that have promised to deliver this utility computing vision is known as Cloud Computing. Cloud computing provides on-demand access to computational resources which together with pay-per-use business models, enables application providers seamlessly scaling their services. With cloud computing definition comes the term of elasticity which is the ability to create a variable number of virtual machine instances depending on the applications demands. Virtualization technology is widely adopted as an enabler of cloud computing because it provides benefits such as security, performance isolation, ease of management and flexibility of running within a user-customized environment. In the other hand, the cloud applications themselves have long been known to as Software as a Service (SaaS). SaaS is a software delivery paradigm where the software is hosted off-premises, developed by service providers and delivered via Internet and the payment mode follows a subscription model. For SaaS providers, having the power to scale up or down an application to only consume and pay for the resources that are required at certain point in time is an attractive capability and if done correctly it will be less expensive than running on traditional hosting. However, cost-effective scalability is not achieved just by deploying large-scale applications over pay-per-use cloud infrastructures, and idle processes and not used resources are wasted but charged to application providers. Over and under provisioning of cloud resources are still unsolved issues. Even if peak loads can be successfully predicted, without an effective elasticity model, costly resources are wasted during nonpeak times (underutilization) or revenues from potential customers are lost after experiencing poor service (saturation). In this sense, SaaS applications give an opportunity to improve this scenario due their multi-tenancy nature, which is the ability to offer one single application instance for several clients/providers (tenants). Each tenant can interact with the application as if it were an unique user and cannot access or view the data of another tenant. Consequently, with the use of cloud computing approaches such as on-demand virtual machine creation, it is possible to efficiently create a mechanism for SaaS applications in order to allocate, consume and charge only the required cloud computing resources by each tenant. This doctoral dissertation establishes formal measurements for under and over provisioning of virtualized resources in cloud infrastructures, specifically for SaaS platforms deployments and it proposes a resource allocation model to deploy SaaS applications over cloud computing platforms by taking into account their multi-tenancy thus creating a cost-effective scalable environment.

Over the past five years, cloud computing has gone from a curiosity to
core scientific technology. The cloud's relative simplicity, instant
availability, and reasonable cost have made it attractive to
scientists, especially in domains relatively new to large scale data
analysis. This trend will continue into the foreseeable future,
challenging resource providers to adapt their services, to provide
easy federation with other providers, and to accommodate many
different scientific disciplines. For developers of cloud services,
there are also many challenges. Efficient access to, and the curation
of large data sets remain largely unsolved problems. Image
management also raises new issues, especially if these images are to
be shared and trusted. This presentation reviews the current status
of cloud computing and presents some ideas on how the upcoming
challenges might be met.

Data proliferation from 7+ billion humans and 20+ billion devices from every walk of life has been the focus in the last decade. With the velocity, variety and volume of data, every data organization’s goal shifted to protecting and monetizing data from rapidly growing network of IOT embedded objects and sensors.
One of the true and tried business continuity methodology of storing and retrieving vast amount of data has been through replication of Hadoop systems on hybrid clouds and in geographically distributed data centers. Replication is similar to Blockchain using autonomous smart contracts instantiated on the metadata and data so that the replicated data follows a single source of truth.
Replicas can be maintained across geographically distributed data centers giving greater risk tolerance capabilities to the businesses continuity plan for the data-sets. With intelligent predictive analytics based on usage patterns, dynamic tiering policies can be triggered on the data sets to provide true value-add to the data. The temperature of the data is used to move data between hot/warm/cold/archival storage based on configurable policies leading to greater reduction in total cost of ownership.
Users in 2018 and beyond demand absolute availability of data as and when they desire. The dynamic data access management is fundamental concept to satisfy the business continuity plan. Seamless enterprise-grade disaster recovery to support business continuity use case has significant challenges around replicating security and governance on data-sets. Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
