Ashley Nabors and her husband Nick lead Greek Cru, a Bible study organization for Greek students at Georgia Southern University. Ashley and Nick work for Campus Crusade for Christ and were asked to start Greek Cru to minister to students and alter stereotypes about Greek culture. They underwent training before introducing Greek Cru, where they lead large group Bible studies and smaller "small group" meetings. The interview revealed how Greek Cru was established and how members can get more involved through small groups and leadership roles.

Each technological age has been marked by a shift in how the industrial platform enables companies to rethink their business processes and create wealth. In the talk I argue that we are limiting our view of what this next industrial/digital age can offer because of how we read, measure and through that perceive the world (how we cherry pick data). Companies are locked in metrics and quantitative measures, data that can fit into a spreadsheet. And by that they see the digital transformation merely as an efficiency tool to the fossil fuel age. But we need to stretch further…

Cooperators of Opus Dei
Saint Josemaría Escrivá founded Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church, on October 2, 1928. Its purpose is to contribute to the Church’s mission to evangelize the world, fostering among people of all sectors of society a life consistent with one’s faith, in the ordinary circumstances of daily life and especially through the sanctification of work.
The message Opus Dei tries to spread is that all honest human work can give glory to God and be “divinized.” For St. Josemaría, to sanctify work means to work with Jesus’ spirit: doing our work conscientiously, seeking to give glory to God and to serve others, and thus to contribute to the sanctification of the world.
The Work provides spiritual formation and pastoral attention to its faithful and to everyone else who wants it, so that each one, in his or her own place in the Church and in the world, may get to know and love God better, giving witness to the faith and striving to help provide Christian solutions to society’s problems.
The Prelature of Opus Dei is made up of a Prelate (Bishop Javier Echevarría) with his clergy, and lay faithful, both men and women. Many other people also take part in its activities, and among them many ask to be Cooperators.
Cooperators of Opus Dei are men and women who by their prayer, almsgiving and work help further the activities organized by the Prelature of Opus Dei, each according to their specific possibilities.
This brochure offers a few testimonies of how Cooperators help, and why.

After three years as a professor at Syracuse University, Butterfie.docxnettletondevon
After three years as a professor at Syracuse University, Butterfield became the Director of Undergraduate studies. As a young professor, the author was in a dilemma and was regretting since she could not trace her roots. In this book, she writes about her struggles in her Christian life from the time that she was still in darkness. She begins by sharing how she was introduced to gospel from an invitation by ken and how this changed how she viewed religion. Thereafter, she develops a plot of new adventures of her experience in Christ and she even says that one can never know the terrain that someone else has walked to worship the lord.
Butterfield’s thoughts about Christian teachings were critical. She took the teachings as insults to mankind since she felt that to keep up with the Christ’s teachings was difficult and one had to tolerate a lot flak from the conservative Christians. At one instance she wanted to devote her time to cover Christian virtues and salvation which was ironic. Butterfield was a dedicated lesbian professor with vast knowledge in gay education and lesbianism which are contrary to Christian teachings.
Bufferfield developed so much interest in bible study that she started self-study of Greek to assist her understand the bible. She also says that she found someone to help her understand the Bible. As an English scholar she was curious to get the hermeneutic used by Christians in studying Greek and Hebrew as the basis of bible writing. Butterfield knew that, to understand the Bible she had to read some extra books and relate them with the bible. The chapel was on the other side and she saw that due to the distance it would not help her. She opted for someone to help her in her growth as a Christian and it is depicted as a positive advancement towards maturity as a Christian.
The author’s life was surrounded by life dynamics and centered on her academia and friends who influenced her life much. On the day she had a phone conversation with pastor ken, she says that the chat was fun and she accepted the meal invitation that marked her salvation.
Having experienced life on both sides, Butterfield compared the two, Christianity and the lesbian community. She admired her life before salvation the most and wished the she had stayed in the academic field. In her contrast, she labels Christian community as scornful, judgmental and afraid of diversity. On the other hand she writes that lesbian community was a home where she felt safe. The contrast brings mockery to Christianity being labeled as judgmental and people who live a circumscribed life.
The theme of change is depicted when pastor ken and her wife, Floy assisted Butterfield to become a devoted Christian. Butterfield acknowledges that she had to change her everything: the life she lived before, the friends that she had and even the kind of writing she used to do.
During her time of conversion, the author was assisted by teamwork in the department as a unity to see her grow i.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Bible Study Beginnings
In a crowded room of students adorned with an array of Greek letters, Ashley
Nabors welcomes guests from every house on the row into this week’s meeting location
at the Kappa Delta sorority house. Ashley has been a leader for the Greek Bible study
organization, Greek Cru, at Georgia Southern University for the past two years. Ashley
grew up in a religious home and has been very involved in her church throughout her
entire life. Her husband Nick also helps to lead Greek Cru every week. The pair has been
married for 3 years and continues to grow in their faith together. Ashley and Nick travel
the world on mission trips to spread God’s word. After much prayer and deliberation,
they decided to fulfill what they believe is God’s plan for them to lead a religious
outreach organization for Greek students to convene apart from the difficulties and
pressures of college life in fraternities and sororities. Campus Crusades for Christ has
been wildly accepted by those in the Greek system looking to grow in their faith through
Bible study among their peers.
The meetings for Greek Cru take place at a different fraternity or sorority house
each week. Tonight’s Bible study is titled “Who to Date and How to Date”. The meetings
begin with a mixer and a chance for members to meet and greet new people. A leader
then addresses the group for prayer before directing the fraternity males to follow Nick
Nabors to another location separate from the sorority females. Ashley Nabors then
2. presides over the females Bible study. The environment is relaxed and comforting. Any
competitive nature among the sororities is left outside the walls of the meeting and Greek
letters seem to disappear. Ashley begins discussing the topic of the night as it relates to a
college student. The topic is then translated into the Bible’s interpretation of the topic.
Ashley adjourns the meeting by offering an opportunity for prayer request from students
before closing with prayer.
Following Greek Cru’s meeting, I met with Ashley Nabors in the quiet sunroom
of my sorority house, Alpha Delta Pi. The room is a long rectangular extension of the
large chapter room at the heart of the house. We sat on a long, plush sofa facing the
incoming light through the windows of the wall of French doors that separate the two
rooms. An open door on the left side of the sunroom leads to a hallway in the foyer. The
tall ceilings above the large wooden staircase in the front of the house cause an echo of
rickety footsteps that penetrates into the sunroom. We are able to hear the movement of
the sixteen residents in the house throughout our conversation. As Ashley positions
herself to face me, I reach to turn on a lamp sitting on the side table next to me for
additional light. I glance at her Bible placed between us on the sofa before beginning my
interview.
An aspect of Greek Cru that has always intrigued me is how the Bible study
program got its start at Georgia Southern University. Ashley and Nick Nabors are both
University of Georgia alums and have no obvious ties to Statesboro. The small and
seemingly unknown college town is not a usual destination for a young, recently married,
and recently graduated couple to move to. I had assumed the leaders of Greek Cru were
only volunteers from the organization. However, Ashley explains to me that she and her
3. husband work for Campus Crusade for Christ, an organization that employs them to
minister to college students here at Georgia Southern University. Ashley explains to me
that the organization is located in almost 200 countries world wide. She felt honored to be
asked to bring the word of God to Georgia Southern University. She and Nick felt it was
their mission to focus specifically on the Greek system in order to alter previous
stereotypes of the culture.
The couple received the offer several years ago and underwent a series of training
courses to prepare them to for the opportunity. “I never knew I would need so much
additional direction when I chose to follow God’s plan for me!” Ashley exclaims. She
tells me how the experience helped her to obtain better leadership qualities that she now
uses to guide others through their difficult religious journeys. As much as she believed at
first that she didn’t need the extra training, Ashley is thankful that she had the chance to
practice teaching prior to introducing Greek Cru to Georgia Southern University. I could
not imagine leading such a large group of students at Greek Cru and sharing such
personal experiences involving my own relationship with God. Ashley says, “Relating to
the students was something I looked forward to because I had just graduated from college
myself. I knew the religious struggles they were facing and I couldn’t wait to help them
overcome their situations with my experienced advice.” Ashley was also happy to have
her husband at her side so they could support each other. However, she was nervous to
move away from her family and make new friends through this career endeavor. The
couple quickly fell in love with the people and the beauty of Statesboro. Ashley was
grateful to be welcomed into the surrounding area but more importantly to her, the Greek
community.
4. Greek Cru meetings on Wednesdays are not the only opportunity students have to
meet with leaders like Ashley for Bible study. As a member of the subculture, I found it
pleasantly surprising that Ashley also leads her own “small group”. When asked about
this, Ashley replied, “These “small group” meetings are just another way for those
interested in growing in their faith to meet with leaders from Greek Cru on a more
personal level with just a handful of others.” Ashley tells me that her “small group”
consists of eight women representing every sorority on the row. She invites the women to
her house every week so they can all feel comfortable discussing their personal religious
struggles they are dealing with while being in college. Ashley says she loves meeting
with these women because they have welcomed her in and become some of her best
friends since her move to Statesboro. I used this interview opportunity to personally tell
Ashley how Greek Cru has impacted my own religious growth since being in college.
My interview with Ashley Nabors surprisingly allowed me to learn new things
about a subculture that I am already apart of myself. Following our conversation, Ashley
connected me with other leaders of the group in order to help me join my own “small
group” and advance my involvement in Greek Cru. I didn’t realize the passion and
dedication it has taken Ashley and the other leaders of Greek Cru to establish this
organization at Georgia Southern University. It makes me proud to be apart of something
so meaningful to the leaders as well as the fellow members.
5. Interview Questions
1. How did Greek Cru first get started at Georgia Southern University?
2. How did you personally become involved with Greek Cru?
3. What is it like to be a leader of Greek Cru in front of such a group of students?
4. How can members of the group become more involved with Greek Cru?
