This document evaluates hardware platforms and path replanning strategies for emergency landing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It compares the performance of greedy heuristic, genetic algorithm, and ensemble methods on personal computer and embedded computer hardware when responding to critical situations like motor or battery failure. The genetic algorithm and ensemble genetic algorithm-genetic algorithm method achieved the best results overall, finding near optimal emergency routes. Testing was done in simulation and with a real UAV to validate the approaches.
