Leica Zeno and FME - Creating Engineer Friendly SolutionsSterling Geo
This document discusses how Leica Zeno GNSS solutions and FME software can work together for engineering projects. It provides details on Zeno hardware and software for accurate field data capture. It also explains how FME can automate post-processing of GNSS data by downloading necessary files, processing observations against base station data, and outputting the results in different formats. The document demonstrates these capabilities through examples of asset management, accuracy testing, and generating reports.
Open Source Initiatives such as OpenStack have created a vibrant ecosystem of research and innovation projects in the area of cloud computing, many of them providing open source software by themselves.
The AppHub project provides a demonstration and showcase infrastructure that helps open source projects to establish a marketing and communication channel to potential users and contributors.
Peter Deussen, AppHub coordinator, is addressing this opportunity in a presentation at MICAS 2015(Management of resources and services in Cloud and Sky computing), September 21, 2015 in Timisoara, Romania.
Librarians as Archivists and Defenders of IP Rights was originally presented to the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire delegation of librarians and archivists from the Carribean. It was provided to NHCUC library directors by Jon Cavicchi in September 2016
The document discusses how a housing authority partnered with local vendors to provide improved television, internet, phone, and security services to residents at affordable rates. This resulted in annual savings of $600 per household on average. It also led to opportunities to establish a computer learning center and partner with local schools through a BTOP grant. The services have been well received by over 95% of residents.
ITTI: Building IP Capacity and Advancing Global Innovationspkowalski
The International Technology Transfer Institute (ITTI) at Franklin Pierce Law Center aims to foster innovation in developing countries through several activities:
- Conducting scholarly research on issues related to intellectual property management, technology transfer, and access to information.
- Organizing workshops, meetings, and conferences to engage with partners like WIPO.
- Producing patent landscape reports on important health and agriculture innovations to improve access in developing areas.
- Involving students through a clinical program to contribute to ITTI programs and reports.
- Exploring partnerships and capacity building opportunities in countries like Colombia, Vietnam, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and others.

Participating in AppHub, the European Open Source MarketplaceOW2
AppHub is the European Open Source marketplace. AppHub identifies and positions software components within the Open Cloud Directory to help users find and implement the software outcomes of your projects more easily. Open source software is a powerful enabler for collaborative innovation. However, making the source available does not automatically attract contributors or grant immediate market access. AppHub is designed to provide an distribution channel that addresses these issues, making it easier for open source projects to connect with their potential markets. Essentially, AppHub brings the market to you. This presentation will provide an overview of AppHub and help OW2 project leaders understand how they can participate in, and benefit from, the AppHub marketplace.
The document discusses AppHub, an EU-funded project that aims to promote open source software. AppHub provides a directory to describe and classify open source assets, a factory to package and publish them, and a store to deploy them on cloud platforms. It seeks to bridge open source developers and projects with the mainstream market. The project runs from January 2015 to December 2016 and is led by Fraunhofer with partners OW2 and UshareSoft. It encourages open source projects to register and showcase their software.
During the EU projects track of ESSOC conference, on September 15th, Cédric Thomas, CEO of OW2 and AppHub dissemination leader, is presenting the European Open Source Market Place. The conference is focusing on the advances in the state of the art and practice of Service-Oriented Computing and Cloud Computing in Europe.

The document summarizes the European Open Source Market Place AppHub project. AppHub received EU Horizon 2020 funding to facilitate the dissemination of open source software assets. It provides an open interoperability framework including a directory to describe and classify assets, a factory to package and publish them, and a store for browsing, selecting, and deploying assets on cloud platforms. The goal is to help open source SMEs and collaborative projects reach the mainstream market.
Open source software is the generic name for both a legal construct to share intellectual property and an approach to cooperative software development. This approach has demonstrated its ability to produce world-class software, and many research and development projects funded by the European Commission publish innovative results as open source software, making them immediately available for being used by the European SME sector.
The objectives of this session are as follows:
- To introduce the AppHub Marketplace that provides rapid access to Open Source software;
- To provide an overview on European funded research
- To understand the needs and requirements of European SMEs

Elastico (www.elastico.co) is a young training company focused on the organization and implementation of IT and Project Management courses. Our approach is mainly based on three pillars: quality, openness and collaboration and we try to put them in every project and course which we deliver. In this context, we thought to support the traditional face-to-face classes with a web platform which could encourage users participation and engagement and finally we chose OpenEdX. OpenEdX is an open source, Django-based (mostly), extendable learning platform designed by the M.I.T. and the Hardvard University, that companies, institutions or educators can host and offer their own classes through. The platform has been deployed thanks to Abstract (http://abstract-technology.com/), official Open edX service provider, that is supporting Elastico in this innovative path. In this talk we present through the Elastico’s case study the OpenEdX architecture, its features and strong points.

Open source as a standard for the Public SectorPaolo Vecchi
The document discusses the benefits of open source software for the public sector. It notes that open source is already widely used today for applications like the internet, cloud computing, and more. However, public sector adoption of open source has been slow due to perceived complexity, lack of expertise, and procurement standards. The presentation argues that open source can reduce costs, increase innovation, avoid vendor lock-in, and promote data sharing and reuse between different public organizations. It promotes the idea of a shared "super cloud" infrastructure to improve efficiency. Overall, the document makes the case that open source should become a standard approach for the public sector.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
