2. When 'Pray' Replaces 'Play'...
To a child battling a life-threatening illness, life is no longer full of fun and games. Sadly, the
daily battle for survival, painful treatment and medication and endless rounds of doctors and
hospitals robs the joys of childhood from these children.
Many of them are even cheated of a chance to see adulthood. To a child such as this, who
has very little hope of enjoying a normal, healthy life, the fulfilment of a most cherished wish
not only gives happiness and joy, but also has a therapeutic effect. Doctors have often re-
ported an improvement in the child's physical condition, after the fulfilment of his / her dear-
est wish... A wish fulfilment makes a sick child believe that anything is possible – even the
future.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of India – started in 1995 – is a not for profit organization
registered under Bombay Public Trust Act. It is one of 36 affiliates of Make-A-Wish Founda-
tion® International. Each affiliate works within the framework of stringent international poli-
cies and guidelines.
Our Mission
We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human
experience with hope, strength and joy.
The Foundation has centres in 10 major locations in India. Since its inception, the foundation
has fulfilled over 22,000 wishes and each year more than 4,000 new wishes are being ful-
filled in these locations. The foundation works mainly through individual wish adopters, do-
nors, corporate cause marketing, CSR activities and donations from trusts and organisa-
tions. All donations are exempt from IT under section 80G.

divisional offices for individual and one time support in wish fulfilment.
