This document provides an overview of best practices for stakeholder engagement and communication regarding carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, based on research and lessons learned from past CCS projects. It discusses five key steps for an effective stakeholder strategy: identifying stakeholders, understanding stakeholders, crafting appropriate messages, selecting suitable messengers, and integrating communication as a core project activity. Common success factors include considering social context, early engagement, targeted messaging, flexibility, and education.
