This document provides a rubric for grading Advanced Placement change over time essays. The rubric outlines the basic core criteria that shows competence, worth up to 7 points, including having an acceptable thesis that addresses the time period and issues, addressing most parts of the question, and partially substantiating the thesis with evidence. The expanded core criteria, worth up to an additional 2 points, demonstrates excellence by expanding beyond the basic core, having a clear analytical thesis, addressing all parts of the question evenly and thoroughly, and providing ample evidence to fully substantiate the thesis.
