The speaker closes their eyes and draws back a curtain to see what they thought they knew. Someone far away is weeping while the world sleeps, but any dream will do. The speaker wears a golden coat with bright, wonderful colors that shine new. In the east, the dawn is breaking and the world is waking, and any dream will do. A crash of drums and flash of light cause the speaker's golden coat to fly out of sight, leaving them alone in the fading darkness. The speaker asks to return to the beginning as the light dims and the dream ends, but says any dream will do while they and the world still hesitate.
