Antonio Vivaldi was an Italian Baroque composer, Catholic priest, and virtuoso violinist born in Venice in 1678. He was nicknamed "The Red Priest" due to his red hair. Vivaldi is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers and was most famous for composing instrumental concertos, especially for the violin. His best known work is The Four Seasons. Vivaldi was employed for over 30 years as a violin teacher at the Ospedale della Pietà, an orphanage in Venice, where he composed much of his major works.
