On January 10, 2009 in
Oberhof, an unknown young
man, Anton SHIPULIN, made
his first appearance as a
member of the national
biathlon team of Russia. Who
could have thought that this
skinny guy, trying hardly to
establish his position in the
heart of the team, in a year
would be a winner of the
Olympic Games in 2010?

Anton was born into a sports family.
His parents were masters of sports in
cross-country skiing and biathlon, so
Anton joined sports in his early years.
In 2002, Anton SHIPULIN started
training in Khanty-Mansiysk under the
guidance of Michael Novikov, who was
and still is the coach of the famous
athlete Svetlana Sleptsova.
In 2006, at the World Biathlon
Championships Anton SHIPULIN
won in the relay race in Presk-Isle.
A year later, he finished second in
the individual race in the Italian
town of Val Martello. At the
Biathlon European Championships of
2007 Anton SHIPULIN won the
gold medal in the relay, a bronze
medal in the pursuit race and a
silver medal in the sprint.

The year of 2008 could be called
the “gold” year for Anton
Shipulin. At the World
Championships in the German
town of Ruhpolding Anton
SHIPULIN won the pursuit and
sprint.
Anton Shipulin performed very well during the
Olympic season of 2009-2010. He was named the
top scorer in our team. Anton SHIPULIN became
one of the leaders of the Russian national team in
biathlon. He became a member of the national
biathlon team of Russia at the Olympics in
Vancouver, Canada in 2010.
Anton deserves the respect
of his fans not only because
of his victories. Since 2010
"Shipulin’s Fund in support
of sports in Sverdlovsk
region" started its work.
Its main purpose is the
development of sports,
providing children with the
necessary conditions for
sports activity.

Besides, the athlete is a highly
qualified lawyer. And in his spare
time, Anton does not mind to go
fishing with his friends.
The biathlete inspires other people by his competitive spirit, zeal to
win, even though in everyday life he is very modest and shy. Anton
wouldn’t miss a chance to chat with his fans, with his usual friendly
smile. I'm sure this is just the beginning of his great sports career. In
a couple of years the world will say, "This is Anton SHIPULIN. He is
unconquerable!" Good luck, Anton. Russia believes in you!
Thank you for choosing
biathlon
