33 year-old Anthony Chancioux is a business manager in field industrial maintenance
in the south-east of France. He wouldn’t have envisaged this specialty if it hadn’t been
for internal mobility. SPIE gave him the opportunity to advance his career.

What has your career path at SPIE been?
Anthony Chancioux: For my final internship when I was at the Perpignan technological
university, I went to SPIE Sud-Ouest in Toulouse, in south-west France, as a methods
technician in 2006. It was my job to implement an installation maintenance contract.
I quickly proved myself and I got hired. After two years’ experience I was promoted, and
became an assistant business manager, which gave me the opportunity to learn the basics.
Then in 2010, I was appointed business manager in Toulouse in an industrial maintenance
department specialising in electricity and instrumentation, which gave me my first
opportunity to work in the tertiary sector. In 2016, I asked for a transfer and I joined the
subsidiary SPIE Sud-Est/CTram in Aix-en-Provence, in the South of France, as a business
manager in field industrial maintenance.
What support were you given in the internal mobility process?
A.C.: When I told them I wanted to leave Toulouse, SPIE immediately said that they’d look
into possibilities for internal mobility. A specific need in field maintenance happened to
come up in Aix-en-Provence, so I accepted. It all went very quickly: I set things going in June
and I was hired in August! Once I arrived, I was made to feel very welcome. My immediate
manager made the round trip to visit me in Aix-en-Provence a number of times to help my
on-boarding, even though his activity is based at the CTram office in Saint-Priest, near Lyon.
What are your duties today?
A.C.: With a small team of eight, we are responsible for maintenance of industrial
installations throughout south-eastern France. We’re on the road all the time! My daily
work consists in looking for new contracts, but also in managing the team’s missions and
the work they do, carrying out costings, and so on. I now specialise in electromechanical
engineering, whereas I used to work in the tertiary sector. That’s one of the benefits of
mobility at SPIE – you can change your speciality and see the world from a new angle!
