Anthea Missy – biographical facts
Anthea Missy started off painting around June 2014. With French nationality, she lives in Brussels and travels round the world to paint commissioned and unsolicited murals .
Her style originates in automatic writing and abstract curved lines. From there, she’s developed figurative characters inspired by her long stay in South East Asia back in 2015, a place where people understand the cuteness better than minimalist abstract art. Whether minimalist and quite nude, or flirting with pop asian figurative art, her style can be noticed and recognised distinctively. The vibe of her work is fresh and young and feels joy and enthusiasm for life, or for the most abstract works quite aerial and deep despite their minimalism. The artistic skills cover a wide range of techniques and medium: graffiti, muralism, street art, paste-ups, free hand, and stencils, from a very small scale up to monumentalism. Canvas and art on paper, ceramics and clothing.
The subjects covered in her art go from the simple appetite to be happy and expression of joy for life to engaged art activities. In 2015, she stayed in Cambodia for 9 months and created art in the Boeung Kak Art Lake where she met French activists who were leading a passive resistance to locals evictions due to economic and politic lobbies that had lead to the lake’ drowning earlier in 2000’s.
In 2016, she participated in Au Bord de l’Eau project in Brussels Laeken, and created a mural for the new social place, supported by Mattelart Art Fund, a crowdfunding and Port of Brussels.
‘ I like doing my art and people’.
The main characteristics of Anthea Missy’s work:
- STORY TELLING with campaign-like projects having social and collective roots.
- VERSATILITY of media used, places and contexts, subjects and themes, collaborators.
- HAPPENING & ENTERTAINMENT, not afraid to go from commissions to unsolicited acts as a natural art performer who goes bare face at day and night and documents her work with video and personal notes.
- FIGURATIVE ABSTRACTION with a signature organic style and a sense of positive/negative space and movement.
- AUTHENTICITY by keeping the lead on her productions and fuelling the artwork with her complete identity.

I thought it would cost more to relate to the silence and solitude of the study, it has not been. Just messing with me first paint stains, has been almost as immediate infatuation is like a return to those areas for meditation, dialogue and creating more active, even those areas that believers call to prayer. They talk with my ten and I meditate the historical, the story is a individuu step. With the brushes can remove water feelings, psychic energy is renewed. These you see below are the first paintings after returning to the world in which I am made.
Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.

3. By opening this book, the reality fades for the benefit of an imaginary world filled with colors and
with life. Forget where you are and enters to discover the magic of these paints.
I walked during long days myself along these pages, of city in town, timeless, in a kaleidoscope
colored with curves and with volutes. It was impressive to let me carry by the movement of these
thousand circles, loops and hyperboles to guess the hypersensitive sensibility and the sincerity of
their creator.
By entering in drawings, I also traveled this charming garden strewed with strange flowers, brilliant
bushes of love or passion. I inhaled these essences of diffuse but so obsessing feelings. I heard the
breath of the silence. I penetrated into the wood and as these butterflies with the multiple
arabesques; I passed from hedges to groves surrounded with an unreal sweetness. At the edge of a
pond lost, covered with a symphony of water lilies, some unknown creatures made circles in the
water. Small waves of love disturbed the surface, for whom knew how to seize them. A vision of
beauty where nothing was still.
At dawn rising, in the pale light of a vanilla sky, I even met the artist, calmed silhouette haloed with
depth of the crystal clear but glittering eyes.
And then, when the sky passed in the deep red, the guardian of the garden called me too, to close
the book. …
Anthea Missy
4. Anthea Missy is a rising street artist
operating in Europe and Asia who
made a fast introduction in the
street art world in April 2014. She
has since painted in many key cities
in Europe and partly in Asia (Paris,
London, Amsterdam, Helsinki,
Brussels, Hanoi) with artworks
ranging from medium to large scale.
She is French and operates under
her real name, from Anglo-Norman
origin, and currently lives in
Brussels.
From human scale walls to large
scale boat in Hackney Wick, or a
60m mural in Hanoi, her creative
process stands out with a
recognizable style.
While intricate compositions of
organic patterns and curve spread
out in space, movement and
minimalism are maintained with a
limited colour palette.
Anthea is a free-hand painter who
likes to improvise on the fly,
unsupported by any sketch or
stencil.
Her art reflects movement, breath,
spontaneous energy and connects
people with their unconscious
emotions.
Heavy use of digital technology is
another dominant pillar of her
modus operandi, dedicated to
pioneering the art of live
performance as she stretches the
ephemeral boundary of graffiti to a
timeless multi sensory art
experience.
Owing to contemporary nomadic
lifestyle and expanding social
media, she regularly offers people
to watch her street live paintings in
real time wherever they are and
she also produces her own street
art movies.

From my window, the garden looked different. Plants and flowers were
moving, like water and firefiles were dancing in the shadows. I knew
that the creature was invisibly connected to a visual symphony. The
Guardian of the garden sat for a while, withdrawn, as grasshoppers
and crickets sang all night. In the morning he gathered the garden like
a thief and his plunder, and disappeared with a deep red sky. (AM)

36. Spontaneous and Lively , that sensation is going above the static
dimension of a frozen movement,
A move of the soul, diffuse, detached from materiality,
Eternal.
Pure whiteness of the day , blinding,
Is it so bright or the illusion of the truth in the dark?
An idea crossed my mind in this complete and absolute peaceful
meditation.
The presence of the other became apparent.
From far but so close,
A thought that I undoubtedly felt as mutual.
Like a communication door open in between space and time,
A flair and beyond everything : a certainty.
Sixth sense.
Row and accurate in a second.
Easily written in a couple of minutes.
There is nothing to be tested or proven.
And there is nothing to hang on.
Just a feel.
I embraced my soul, and I jumped out of my bed without
thinking about that any longer.
I just kept the sweet aerial love thoughts as wings.
Life without substance is no life.
'Flowing Soul'
7 am thoughts of love
''Dear Diary,
Without any statement,
Agitated, restless,
All contradictions intertwined,
By both ends.
I woke up and all was clear.
The day light was rising as the night was falling asleep,
On thoughts, laid on white sheets.
The light burst into dreams of reality,
Words, again, the same,
Forever,
A quest for the absolute, for the truth.
Love is vibrating,
The breast is moving,
The heart is beating strong , accelerating on those thoughts,
The mind is coming, eyes see through darkness,
Visions of now, and tomorrow,
Intensified senses,
Thinking forward ,
and sensing the life of 'tomorrow', under the fingers, laid on the
fabric, touching the leaves, colours, and the skin of the waking dream.

Drawing made of 70's colours, energizing
with the orange background and softened
by organic pattern.
'Naked'

Drawing made of core shades of my
artwork in general. White is muted in a
pearl beige foundation to bring more
warmth & light to the composition.
40. 'In the Wood'
When something is going to happen I sense it.
A smell, a caress of the wind,
Something buzzing in the air in silence or in the middle of the loud
croud.
Nose up high, nose wide open, you know it's in the air,
Someone close is around.
Still far from the body, so close to your mind.
A magnetic appeal. Invisible for the eyes, still, so obvious for the heart
to feel.
And the desires dance in imagination,
And the ink flows through the paper to make it breathe,
And the eye meets the eye,
And the earth seems to tremble and shake your whole world.
The moment, the magic instant,
Like a splinter going straight under your skin.
A second, so close, endless understanding.
Endless love lost in the moment.
For the sake of purity and honesty.
No words necessary.
A immediate and extra speed blossom of the soul,
Turning pink and red and flashing in the dark.
It's like the wind,
Passing by once and then leaving.
That's a connexion.
It is perfect as such and consuming it can lead to
disappointment.
Love is free, live is eternal.
Trying to capture the love is like chasing your own freedom,
The love is like a flower.
It needs to breather and needs delicacy.
It needs to remain above the power of words.
Because grace is something you sense.
That alignment with someone, in silence.
And they eyes speak.
The same is true with people who don't like you, or with
whom you don't fit.
But very often hatred is not really natural.
It hides a future story or learning, a lesson to receive and use
for a better life, for a positive life.
Sometimes in the morning I think about things I failed, and I
realize how much they taught me how to improve my future
projects.
Eternal only, the instant of completion.
