Anshika Jhamb is a current student at IIT (BHU) studying Metallurgical Engineering with a focus on corrosion, electrometallurgy, metallographic techniques, and mechanical metallurgy. She has work experience in failure analysis, corrosion studies, and foundry metallurgy from internships at BARC and TATA Motors. Anshika seeks a challenging role that utilizes her technical skills and allows for professional growth. She has strong academic performance and extracurricular involvement in activities, events, and social initiatives.
My research is focused on the development and characterization of stimuli (e.g. electric field/magnetic field) responsive smart polymeric materials.
I worked with dielectric elastomer (e.g. VHB F9473PC, VHB 4905 , PDMS) to yield electric field actuated smart structures. Then I started working with PVDF-based polymers . My study includes lab scale casting of thin films, electrical & mechanical characterization of polymer/elastomer, realization of smart structures using electroactive polymers(EAPs) and analytical modelling of smart materials.

Practical Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Living Online
Many technical professionals today find themselves working with large scale chemical processes even though they don't have formal training in Chemical Engineering. This workshop intends to fill this gap and provide you with knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals along with the ability to apply this knowledge to specify, design, operate, maintain and troubleshoot chemical processes. If you are a non-chemical engineer this manual will enable you to confidently talk to and work effectively with chemical engineers and process equipment.

2. TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
I worked as a summer intern in B.A.R.C (Bhabha Atomic Research Center) on “Failure analysis of Stainless Steel
pipe (316L) exposed to H2S environment”, under the guidance of Dr. Geoggy Jiju Abraham, Scientific Officer
Corrosion Science Division, MSD, BARC; Dr. V.Kain, Head Corrosion Science Division, MSD, BARC and Dr. G.K Dey,
head Material Science Division(MSD), BARC, right after my 1st year of B.Tech. I used techniques such as sample
preparation using metallographic techniques, microscopic observations of crack profile and grain size, mechanical
testing, chemical analysis, XRF and ferrite measurement to detect the actual cause, type and profile of corrosion.
I was appreciated and recommended by Dr.V.Kain , Head of Corrosion Science Section, MSD (Material Science
Division) , BARC for my excellent work.
I worked in great detail on “Corrosion of Ferritic Martensitic Steels & Indian RAFMS in Lead Lithium Eutectic” At
BARC under the guidance of Mrs. Poulami Chakrabarty, Scientific officer, FRMS,BARC and Dr. Krishnamurthy, Head
FRMS(fusion research material science) division , BARC after my 2nd year B.Tech. This project was related to ITER
(International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). (abstract understated)
ABSTRACT:
Nuclear fusion has provided a solution to the world power crisis. Lead Lithium Ceramic Breeder TBM has been
proposed by India to be tested in ITER. However, the structural material is RAFMS. So, we need to test the
compatibility of RAFMS with Pb-Li eutectic at high temperature in the presence of magnetic fields.
So, we have carried analysis of samples from forced circulation Pb-17Li loop operating at 600rpm for 500hrs at
5500C & also heat treated samples at 5500C for 500hrs using microscopic analysis, mechanical testing , chemical
analysis, XRD. We have also derived a relationship between pump speed & fluid velocity as well as flow rate using
theories of electromagnetism , fluid dynamics and flowmeter concepts. Furthermore, we have commissioned a
set-up to analyze the effect of magnetic fields on corrosion of Indian RAFMS by Pb-17Li eutectic.
We have observed that heat treatment leads to weakening of the material that is further assisted by corrosion due
to flowing Pb-17Li eutectic. Also, a coating is developed on the surface, but unfortunately, this coating is too fragile
& brittle to prevent corrosion & corrosion continuous & material deteriorates with time.
However, thermal effects are in majority as compared to the effects of corrosion by Pb-17Li eutectic.
I worked on “Effect of cooling rate on metallurgical and mechanical properties of 6BT block castings” at TATA
Motors Limited, Jamshedpur under the guidance of Mr. Brajesh Kumar Singh, Division Head, Production
Engineering, TML, Jamshedpur after my 3rd year B.Tech. This project was based on a keen study of techniques of
Foundary Metallurgy, characterization and testing of samples by various mechanical as well as microstructural
testing methods. After this project, my knowledge of Foundry Metallurgy and my interest in Automobile Sector
enhanced manifold.
Recommendations:
Dr. V.Kain, Head, Corrosion Science Section, MSD (Material Science Division), BARC,
