Anne Frank's parents were Otto Frank and Edith Frank-Holländer. She had an older sister named Margot. In 1933, the Frank family moved from Germany to Amsterdam to escape Nazi persecution. They went into hiding in 1942 in the back of Otto Frank's business building, living secretly in the annex until they were discovered in 1944 and arrested. Only Otto Frank survived, and he spent his later years ensuring Anne's diary was published.
