Anne Frank was a small girl in the midst of a religious and racial filtration process this was also known as the Holocaust. As prisoners entered the doors of Auschwitz they saw the words “Arbeit Macht Frei" (work will give you freedom). But the consequences show this was a false statement. On her 13 th Birthday Anne received her first diary which initially was a private book of her emotions towards certain events. But in the newspaper she saw an advertisement that suggested that diaries of people would be collected. That was when she decided to write a well informed account of her life. She, like Cassie did not understand why the world has to be cruel. They were defiant but had no choice but to conform to the situation. A few years after hiding Anne and her fellow group was captured and most were sent to Auschwitz. As was Anne.
