Research
Tetracycline Resistance in Escherichia coli strains collected from North River and November 2021
Stone Village Pond
 Collaborated with a group of students in collecting water samples and isolating 14 E. coli strains. Zones of
inhibition observed from an agar disk diffusion assay.Large Plasmid extraction was performed, and gel
electrophoresis showed the possible presence of plasmid DNA in 7 out of 14 strains, which is possibly
correlated with the tet(B) gene.
PCR analysis of Tetracycline Resistance Genes in Environmental Escherichia coli strains Present
 PCR to detect tet(B) and tet(M) genes in 14 environmental strains of E. coli. Quantitative observation of
level of resistance at various concentrations of tetracycline (μg).
