The Monster's Journey

Angelina
A long time ago there was a monster. He didn't have a name because he didn't have a family to
name him. The monster lived in a jungle miles away from his family. He had a mane. His body had
black stripes on it and scaly arms. He was a friendly monster. It was lonely in the jungle. At night he
would look out at the sea. One fine morning he had a brilliant idea! He would build a boat! He worked
all night long. In the morning it was finished!
The monster was ready to set sail to find his family! It was about 6:00 at night. He pushed the
wooden boat into the icy waters. It was so cold it made the monster shiver. He stepped in. It was about
four feet when the wood started falling apart. The monster knew what the problem was. The waves
were too big. He swam back to the island. The monster decided that he would build a raft instead of a
boat. Maybe the waves wouldn't be so harsh. Soon it was morning. It wouldn't take as long to build a
raft as a boat. As soon as he was done he pushed the raft into the water. He got on."Yes!" said the
monster out loud.
Soon the monster was sailing smoothly. The sun was setting. It was gorgeous. The monster dipped
his feet into the water. He slowly fell asleep. In the middle of the night he heard a boom boom sound.
The monster looked alert. He took his wooden paddle and paddled as far away as he could get. He
knew what it was. It was the sea monster. The sea monster followed him. Suddenly the monster fell off
of the raft and swam to a nearby rock. "Woo!" said the monster.
The monster knew how lucky he was. He slept on the rock. When he woke up he was overjoyed
with what he found. Floating right next to the rock was the raft! He hopped right on the raft. About a
mile away he saw an island! "That's where my family is!" the monster yelled. He paddled very fast.
When he got to the island he found his family waiting for him.
He ran to his parents. "Mother, father!" cried the monster. He ran to his 12 brothers and and one
sister. "It's good to see you," said his mother weeping . "Do I have a name?" asked the monster. "Yes,"
said his parents. "Your name is Monster," they said. "Monster, I like it," said Monster joyfully as he
gave his parents a big hug.
