Storage Architect / Project Manager
My function at Proximus was to assist in the project management for a storage replacement (lifecycle)
program where EMC VMAX and VNX storage boxes were replaced by newer models. The EMC
Recoverpoint technology was introduced for replication and high available purposes. In my architect role
I have evaluated, improved and documented the HP Storage solutions. Additionally I created a complete
operational manual following the best practices for both HP storage platforms (3PAR & P9500) for the
Proximus operations team.
• Project Management of the Lifecycle replacement program (ODR2014) where the storage platforms
were renewed. Here it was my task to follow up the steps performed by the Vendor (EMC) and to
coordinate within the Proximus teams while respecting all in place customer procedures.
• Implementation of an extensive documentation repository providing a detailed Storage overview per
system and integrated the documentation in the existing sharepoint platform.
• Provided an operations manual for HP 3PAR and P9500 storage.
• Review and adaption of the HP 3PAR and P9500 to be aligned according to HP best practices.

As assigned Engineer I assisted contract customers by providing pro-active & re-active services. Working
for several customers (Fortis Investments, Swift, Philips, Skynet, etc…) and helping them on any Microsoft,
Storage or HP related question or problem. This involves pro-active and re-active telephone & on site
assistance. The supported product range covers all Microsoft products (from a broad range between
basic windows 2000/XP/Vista until clustered exchange 2003 servers) and the HP Enterprise Virtual Array
Storage system. It is very common for customers in the Mission Critical business to request their assigned
account engineer to review or health check their most critical Windows & EVA Storage systems. A rather
large part of my time I was involved in designing and implementing/migrating the customer’s most
critical systems.

During the period of 1 month I was active in several smaller projects.
Design & Implementation of Active Directory for the City Jabbeke (department City-management, Social
Services, etc... ) also the migration of IIS 4.0 to IIS 5.0, DNS setup for the local en external (DMZ )zone and
the DHCP setup.
Further during this period I worked for airplane-constructor SONACA and was involved in stress-testing &
reparations on their Windows NT / 2000 servers. The day’s that I was not involved in the above projects I
was rotating in the Compaq Warranty Calls team where it was my task to help customers with their
Proliant server breakdowns.

On the Server Team of Coca-Cola I was involved in the Windows 2000 migration team.
We where migrating all Novell File- and Print servers to Windows 2000 servers. My main part was the
installation and configuration (hardware and software) of around 20 Compaq Proliant servers and 30
Quantum Snap Servers. During this period I got experience on installing servers out of the box and place
them fully operational into racks and connected to the network. I spend about 75 % of my time in foreign
countries, mainly England & France.

My main task was to assist customers when their proliant server had a breakdown. This for high
availability Systems (CL 380, DL 580, etc... ) to low end servers (ML350, PL 1600).
It was of major importance to work efficient and fast. Customers like Deutsche bank, Fortis, Barco
Graphics where no exception, therefore a professional approach was a major requirement.
07/2001 – 09/2001 Company : Philips
Architect
With a team of 2 persons we designed a plan for a migration from Windows NT workstations to Windows
2000 Professional workstations. This for a total of 1.000 workstations. The design had to take the rules of
Philips HQ in account.
During this period we where also responsible for on site 4th line support & for some new installations :
Installation of new servers ( Windows 2000 & NT ), installation of SQL 7.0 & IIS 4.0.

• Participation of 50% of an Distributor in Ventilation Products (Belgovent). During a period of 16
months I was actively involved (average 12h / week) in running a small company with 10 people.
This provided me lots of insights on the specific challenges that come by running a company
from sales to delivering after support. The combination of a full time job in ICT with running an
additional company was a nice experience but not that easy to combine. When I received an offer
by my business Partner to buy my part of the shares this delivered me the opportunity to focus

Company Simulation Program in this workgroup we mend to create realistic company setups to
discuss migration and implementation plans on a certain environment.
We where not just installing a DNS, Wins, Exchange or IIS environment without first discussing all
possible migration scenarios. After the review we would select which plan seems to give the
greatest advantages and fits to solve the presented problems.
• Cisco Workgroup (2000-2001):
Lead a Cisco workgroup with 2 colleagues.
We supplied general networking information with Cisco Products.(Routers and switches).
