The document discusses the University of Sheffield's plans to transition its students and staff to using Google Apps. It notes that the university currently has over 25,000 students and 6,500 staff who demand more from the university's IT systems. The existing email and file storage systems are outdated and insufficient. The university plans to roll out Google Apps to students in Phase 1 and staff in Phase 2 to provide more flexible, robust, and modern collaboration tools. The transition will require training workshops and materials to help the university community adopt the new systems and change their habits.
