Hacking the Mesh: Extending Istio with WebAssembly Modules | DevNation Tech TalkRed Hat Developers
Moving common network functionality such as client load-balancing and circuit-breaking into out-of-process proxies has kickstarted the technology we call Service Mesh, with Istio as its most popular incarnation. With the introduction of WASM support, you can now extend its functionality by writing custom Filters for Istio's proxy, Envoy, in any language that supports WASM. Let's take a closer look at developing, building, and deploying WASM Filters using the example of an OpenID Connect Filter that adds Keycloak Authentication functionality to any service in your Mesh - no code changes required.
Learn how to incorporate Azure Search into your application to allow your users to find the data they are looking for. The session will start with how to create, populate and search indexes. Then it will cover how to quickly add more advanced query capabilities such as type-ahead, facets, phonetic search and more.
OAuth2 Goa library for Apps Script tutorial including how to use the Google Developer console dashboard. Handles Google and other providers as well as Service accounts.
Parse is a suite of cloud based APIs, services and libraries that focus on letting developers build out rich applications and less time dealing with the overhead of setting up and managing databases, push notifications, social sign on, analytics, and even hosting and servers.
In this series I'll overview the options around developing an application that leverages Parse, including using Cloud Code to deploy your Node.js app to Parse's own hosting service.
Learn how to focus on creating a great user experience and forget complex infrastructure. Instantly add a powerful core, push notifications, and analytics to your app with Parse. We will take a deep dive at Parse's native SDKs for Android and see how to build an app that scales to millions of users.
Most AWS APIs will have limits on the amount of data you can send in one request and sometimes you really need to send a lot of data! To try to maximise the amount of data you can send, while still staying within the limits, some APIs support sending gzip-compressed payloads. But how can you send a gzipped request when using the Python SDK for AWS (boto3)? Well, I needed to answer this question recently and it turned out not to be as easy as I anticipated… Let’s jump into this rabbit hole together and let’s find out the answer!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
