The document contains three equations: x+x-1=3, x2+x-2=a, and x3+x-3=b. It asks to find the numerical value of a+b by solving these simultaneous equations for a and b.
The document contains three equations: x+x-1=3, x2+x-2=a, and x3+x-3=b. It asks to find the numerical value of a+b by solving these simultaneous equations for a and b.
This problem asks us to factor the expression x^2 - 4x + 5 and use it to find the coefficients a and b in the polynomial ax^3 + bx^2 + 25, whose factors include x^2 - 4x + 5. We are asked to compute and report the sum of a + b.
To solve a quadratic equation by completing the square, rewrite the left side in the form of x^2 + bx, add (b/2)^2 to both sides to create a perfect square on the left, then take the square root of both sides. To solve by the quadratic formula, identify the coefficients a, b, and c and plug them into the formula x = (-b ± √(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a to find the solutions.
This document provides methods for solving quadratic equations including factoring, using the difference of squares, completing the square, and using the quadratic formula. Examples are given for solving quadratic equations by factoring, taking square roots, completing the square, and using the quadratic formula to graph the equation and find the x-intercept(s).
The document provides steps to factor the expression (3y - 5)(y + 1). It first writes out the expression, then multiplies the terms using distribution. It groups like terms and factors the resulting expression into (y + 1)(3y - 5).
The document contains an assignment with 5 math problems due on Tuesday, February 7th. It provides lesson material on nets and the surface area formula for cylinders. It includes 4 examples calculating the surface area of cylinders with different radii and heights. The student is asked to find the net, simplify expressions, solve equations, write a percentage as a decimal and fraction, and find all solutions to an absolute value equation.
This document provides instructions on factoring quadratic trinomials of the form Ax^2 + Bx + C. It explains that trinomials of this form can be factored using the grouping method by finding two factors of the leading term times the constant term whose sum is the middle term. Examples are provided to demonstrate factoring trinomials with various coefficients of the leading term. Students are given practice problems to factor trinomials as well as determine when an expression is not factorable.
This document contains notes from a math lesson including an assignment, warm-up problems, and information about ratios. It discusses how to write ratios using words, fractions, colons, and decimals and emphasizes that ratios should always be reduced. Examples are provided from the lesson on page 188 of the textbook. The lesson covered evaluating expressions, expanding polynomials, factoring expressions, inverse operations, properties of equilateral triangles, and different ways to write ratios.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
